About the whole $3k worth of credits thing. Yeah that's kinda irrelevant when literally nobody buys credits. You can earn three million in a day just by grinding bounty hunting missions. A few mining trips in the 3 person ship is 3 million credits when it's refined and sold. Unless you are a literal billionaire, there is no way in hell that buying credits is a viable idea. You can spend three thousand dollars and get the same amount of credits you can earn in a few hours of playing. And personally I like the fact that the price is outrageous. Almost nobody feels tempted to spend 100 bucks to get the money they would get from ONE BOUNTY. And those who have so much money to just dump it there, support the game massively.

I completely echo what you said about the Star Citizen community, genuinely never played a game with a better community. For background - I actually bought Star Citizen in 2016. It was going to be mine and my brothers game, the perfect game for two insane Sci-Fi nerds! It was insanely broken back then, but the potential was mesmerising! So we thought we’d take a break and try again once the game settled down. Then my brother died. Once everything had been sorted out I just didn’t have the heart to play without him - until last week! What I found was an incredible group of players. On leaving New Babbage on my first time play the game I instantly crashed. Within 10 minutes another player, Talonflame, had arrived, rescued me and then basically took me under his wing for about two hours for a flying lesson. The next day, a player called Takebushi talked me through a few problems I was having, then just straight-up gave me enough money to buy another ship. Then, after getting lost in caves outside Hurston and becoming incapacitated, 5 separate players arrived and coordinated a rescue operation. Then they gave me some more in-game money and we toured each other’s ships. I have honestly never played a game like this. Even if it’s never finished, it absolutely has to be one of the finest gaming communities out there on one of the most incredible games. Thank you everyone so far!

As for why the game runs better at high quality, it depends on what is the most pressured part of your PC - CPU or GPU. If it's the CPU then running it on high offloads some of the computations to the GPU, making the game run a little bit better. If you are GPU limited though, then no, setting it on higher quality will not help.

While CPUs and GPUs both have "cores" these cores are not the same. They're not interchangeable. A CPU core is a general purpose computational unit that can execute dozens of different tasks ("instructions"). A GPU core is a specialized unit that can do one thing and one thing only. It just needs data and then it does its thing. Ever notice how GPUs have different kinds of cores? Stream processors, tensor cores, CUDA cores, RT cores, etc.? This is needed, because each core is only good for one task, so there are different cores for different tasks. A CPU doesn't need that, because each core can do "everything". A multicore CPU is just multiple CPUs on the same die. Each "core" is a CPU in its own right. If you disable all cores of a CPU except for one, you still have a functional CPU (just slower for multithreaded tasks). On the other hand, if you could disable everything except a single GPU core, you'd have a fancy calculator that's stuck on one operation. This specialization is what makes GPU cores tiny (relative to a CPU core), which is why it's possible to have so many of them. The more functionality you add to a single core, the larger it gets, the fewer you can have (without making a huge chip that's too expensive and runs too hot). Once a core has gained enough functions to be "general purpose" again, its so large that you're back to a CPU with up to 64 cores instead of a GPU with thousands of specialized cores. There's another angle to this: Graphics is "embarrassingly parallel". For every pixel on your screen you have to do the same thing over and over again. The color of a pixel is independent from every other pixel for the most part (except for things like AA or other post processing effects). This is why graphics can make use of a GPU with thousands of cores. All of those cores do the same task at the same time, just with different data that targets a different pixel on your screen (SIMD; Simple Instructions, Multiple Data). The same is not true for most other tasks. Ever heard how single core speed is still a thing? That's the case because some tasks are either very hard or even impossible to parallelize. That's why an 8-core CPU running at 5 GHz can still beat a 64-core CPU running at 3 GHz in some workloads. Because the software simply isn't able to utilize all those cores and benefits from raw speed of a few or even a single core instead. A thousand-core CPU running at ~2 GHz would be abysmal for most things, simply because the number of jobs that scale to such high core counts is extremely limited (e.g. graphics, physics, AI, some science stuff). That's why we build specialized hardware that is optimal for these kinds of tasks and have the CPU do everything else. That's also why, as a gamer, you typically don't need "all the cores". Games simply don't scale beyond a certain number of cores. Newer games have gotten better at this, but a 64-core CPU is still a waste for gaming.

What a pleasure to see you playing Star Citizen again. Really fun to watch ! FYI: - You can quantum drive "through" a planet/moon, the ship will take the way around! (there was a time when the ship went through the planet, it was pretty funny) - Also, your screen becomes red because your character endorses a lot of G on the wrong way so the blood is stuck in its brain. You should try to keep the G on the bottom of the ship as much as you can. - For the mercenary mission, bad guys have ping marks on their armor, and for the next update, good guys will have arrows over their head. - As some other comments already said, you should play with someone who has already strong experiences in Star Citizen because this game is HUGE. There is a lot to know and I can tell you, as a long time player, that I do not know everything by far. You made a lot of rookie mistakes, and that's perfectly OK, but you would enjoy the game much more if you know a bit more about it. Don't even know if it's mining necessarily. Back during Invictus, there was special trade resources worth a fair bit if you sold them at Orison. You could straight double your investment with them, and for about a week it was bugged to have infinite supply and demand. Filling a C2 with the most expensive material would cost 17mil, and then sell for 34mil. Once my org found out about this, we just started grinding it for a ton of money, and then sending seed money to other org members so they could get a C2 and fill it up for a full run right away. Eventually, they fixed it, but I know a few of my org members hit a billion, while I bought every ship I was interested in and still had some 40mil left over. Little disappointed the wipe next patch means I'll lose everything before they fix a lot of the bugs. Been trying to fly the Carrack, but it just despawns while I'm in it, or I fall through it mid quantum jump. The 890 has worked out better for me, but the ship is just so slow and really struggles to stop. So one thing that is helpful is, in the settings, you can change the way flight works. By default, you drag that cursor in the direction you want to go and depending how far it is from center determines how quickly it will maneuver in that direction. You can also change it to be FPS style where moving the mouse immediately pans the vehicle or gun turret in that direction. Most people prefer to use a joystick for flight in this game as it allows for better precision flying and easier maneuverability. Also, using a joystick with allows for more precise thruster use as using WASD keys are either 0% or 100% whereas a joystick allows for thruster control within the entire range of 0 to 100%.

25:49 when it comes to these turret shooting at you that's just a bug as far as i know, it's because it still thinks you're not supposed to be there even when you've got a mission there, you just have to fly close enough to the bunker for the mission to update which will remove the restricted area thing, then the turret usually stop shooting at you after a little bit, for extra safety until the turret stops shooting just go behind the bunker like you did. landing there is usually recommended just in case you incur a crime stat and the turret becomes hostile so it doesn't destroy your ship while you're still inside the bunker.

here are some pieces of advice: 1. Always deactivate cruise control when you aren't traveling long distances in a straight line, it is very helpful to be able to stop your ship to accelerate in tight spaces. 2. in the bunker mission the ennemies and the allies have different armors, the blue and pink/purple are ALWAYS the enemies (plus the guys in black jacket) otherwise you can simply pay attention to their logo (9 squares place in a 3x3 grid with the left side being a b it indented ) hope this can help make anyone's experience a little easier don't hesitate to ask any question regarding star citizen it will be a pleasure to answer. see you in the verse ! o7

Not at those speeds. You don't reverse on those speeds. You change your trajectory by boosting up.
@vorpalrobot2 жыл бұрын
Your thruster power tip only applies to the decoupled mode. In the default coupled mode the limiter controls the max speed, thrusters will apply full force until it is reached.
@animusnocturnus71312 жыл бұрын
@@vorpalrobot I never said anything about the limiter though, only about the retroburn. Even if you turn your ship around to use your main thrusters to retroburn, at full speed it can still take you a couple seconds to slow down enough to stop before you crash. You need to overcome the force of the push to slow down enough to stop. You only need a fraction of that force to change your trajectory though. But don't take my word for it. You can try that yourself in the Verse. Aim your ship right next to a turret, fly at it with top speed and see if you can stop before you'd hit it. Now try again from the same distance and see if you could change your trajectory enough to miss it, and see what would be faster.

Well done on regaining 'control' on Area 18 landing! Little FYI, Landing in 3rd person, which I prefer visually, you should change your mouse movement mode tto the FPS mode, since in 3rd person, you do not have the ship HUD which shows your mouse movements. To change to the FPS shooter type of mouse control (exact name of feature unknown), tap Q, or period, (I forget which as I altered my default keybinds). Once activated your ship only moves when your mouse is moving. Beware when using this mouse mode, you'll have to pick up and move mouse a few times as youll run outve mouse pad, but overall more control of ship). IIt especislly useful if you ever jump in a turret of another ship too! Good to see you enjoy yourself, even with all the frustrations! Players didn’t buy UEC chits from the RSI Store and send them to you. You would’ve received RL emails and had to accept those gifts for them to be added to your in-game wallet. Players transferred aUECs earned in-game to you via the MobiGlass. It’s not uncommon in the SC community, especially for YTers so they can buy better stuff to improve their gameplay videos. Sometimes n00bs will ask for help in Global Chat and generous vets will gift them millions for nothing. That’s part of what makes Star Citizen’s player community the BEST online game community I’ve ever experienced… and TBH I DON’T want Normies to play SC because they’ll ruin it and make it as TOXIC as any MP FPS.
@r3h0l3s72 жыл бұрын
You do understand the paradox there. You give in game money to YTers to improve their gear to make better videos. Better videos increase viewership on said video. Leading to increase chance of normies liking video and wanting to play it. Maybe since you capitalized "Normies" this is that just slang for people named Norman. You just don't want Normans playing the game? Which obviously isn't racist, since Norman isn't a race, but still feels messed up on some level. Was your stepdad named Norman? Do you need a hug?

Love your Star Citizen videos so far! A few tips: when you want to visit a terrestial outpost and it's on the wrong side of the moon, you should be able to just put a waypoint on that location and quantum jump to it. I think in fact you did that last video. 2ndly, when visiting moons/planets with low visibility or at night, you can click tab to do a pulse scan so you can see the outline of the surface. That way you get a better impression of how far away you are from the ground. When it says 1000m altitude it means just that: altitude. There are still mountains and hills you can crash into and they are very hard to see at night. See you in the verse, citizen! o7

Love the video, very entertaining. You could use a little help however😅. So your only issue with flying and why you keep crashing (also why your having such a hard time maneuvering the ship) is because your flying with cruise control on constantly and manipulating your speed with the scroll wheel. That's a big no no and can cause hurty sores or an expedited un-aliving. As far as your screen changing color and/or getting darker goes, this happens when you're flying way to fast. Keep and eye on the red and white bar (red is a constant but the other color depends on the color of the HUD) on the left side of the HUD. General rule of thumb is not to go too much into the red if you plan stopping pretty soon or turning without blacking out from taking 30g's of force. You kinda almost figured it out when flying to the bunker actually. Now for the crimestat (CS), you got it for shooting at the turret initially. What you wanna do is actually what you ended up doing (kudos) and landing behind the building where the turret cant see you. Unfortunately, this is not possible at bunkers with more than one turret usually and you have to land over a hill and run over. Just next time do it without engaging the turret. Inside the bunker you usually fight 9tails which have that pink/purple on them. You shoot them, and them only otherwise you get a CS. Speaking of the CS, if you die with one then 98.6% of the time your gonna go to prison soooo you have that to look forward to next time you play lol. You could benefit by watching a tutorial honestly. I'd Recommend the one from Morphologist. If you're more of a hands on, trial and error learner then I'm sure you'll figure it out eventually. However if you'd like to make the transition into star citizen easier then I would be more than willing to lend a hand, recording or not. You can add me on spectrum (this is basically the star citizen message board that everyone with an account has access to) @FatalFPS and shoot me a message. I play pretty regularly and I'm a big ship combat/fps player so I'd be happy to show you the ropes. Same goes for anyone else who actually reads this entire comment and feels like they need help! As someone who’s joined in-game player orgs for events, I can safely say that - _when it works_ - the experience of a 25v25 battle on the dark side of a moon crater with transports flying in respawns and dogfights raging overhead as you try to use your portable railgun to nail the oncoming space buggy racing across the terrain towards the rock you’re hiding behind… …is quite exhilarating.

I suspect the reason the community is to nice is because the majority of backers have been around since kickstarter days (like 9 or 10 years ago) and are in their 30/40's by now. Much more mature and laid back player base relative to other games. P.S. Totally blow all your money on all the cool stuff like ships. It's all getting wiped in a few weeks with the release of 3.17.2
@animusnocturnus71312 жыл бұрын
You can actually spool and jump without setting a course first. If you do so, you'll see a whole bunch of Quantum AR Markers. Most packages will be waiting for you at official locations with an AR marker, so you just need to spool the drive up, point your crosshair to the marker you want to go to, let the ship calculate the jump, and then jump. If you're in orbit of a celestial body (moon/planet) and want to go to a ground location the quantum drive will pull you into what the community calls a spline jump around the planet/moon to the ground location you chose. For locations in space (other moons for example) you will need a free line of sight to the locations you want to go to. That's where Orbital Markers (OM 1 - OM 6) come in. They - like most locations in space - are marked by diamond symbols and strewn across the cardinal points (North- and Southpole as well as around the equator) of any celestial body. So if you want to go to a moon but a planet is in between you and the moon, you can jump to OM 1 (that's always the one above the Northpole) and you'll always have a free line of sight towards your destination. Flight 101: The speedometer is split in 2 parts. The upper one is red and the lower one is in the colour of the ships HUD (in the Auroras case, due to it being a ship by the manufacturer RSI, this would be blue) The speed limiter normally sits exactly at the point where the speedometer switches from one colour to the other. That's because the speed in the HUD coloured section of the speedometer is called SCM (Space Combat Manouver) speed and marks how fast your ship can go with you keeping full manouverability, meaning that changes to the flight direction happen basically immediately. The faster you go (by exceeding SCM speed) the more the mass of your ship will keep shoving you in the same direction (Newtonian physics, yay!) which in turn means that you'll have a harder time not hitting something that's on that set trajectory. The easier way to not hit something is therefore to not exceed the SCM speed. (At least not by a lot. Ships the size of an Aurora are capable of stopping almost instantly if you don't go faster than 2/3 of the total speedometer. In fact, the lines on the speedometer get closer together on the top of it because it's compressed at the top and streched at the bottom so that you can make finer speed adjustments when flying slow than when flying top speeds) The more advanced way of not hitting something on your trajectory is to change your trajectory away from the object you might hit. So if you go full speed and realize that you made a horrible mistake, don't trottle down the speed limiter! Instead, use your bottom thrusters by pressing space and your boost by pressing shift, so that your trajectory changes. If you've got enough room between you and the object of your potential demise, you might also be able to raise the nose away from it and use your main thrusters to change your trajectory. Your main thrusters have more power than your bottom thrusters which makes the change to the trajectory faster, but newer pilots tend to panic and more steps between death and not death mean more chance to check instead of act and that in turn means it takes longer to correct away from death. Oh and decending is just [Ctrl]. SC is definitely a learning experience. You'll get the hang of it in no time. You're handling your ship better than most new players already. If you're not using a Joystick though, you'll have an easier time controling pitch and yaw from 1st person, because you can see how much force in which direction the virtual joystick is exerting at any single point. Your crimestat might cause you to go to space jail though for a while. 3 Million aUEC is enough to buy a quite decent multiplayer ship btw. A Freelancer, Cutlass, or Vanguard will cost you between 1.5 and 2.8 million.

You did well for a beginner. You don't want to know what I did on my first day... A few hints; You can straife in any direction. Check the key map, I believe its control. (I use joysticks, so I don't remember the keys.) Most enemy's in FPS will have paint on their armor, usually purple in the current build of the game. (The next patch in a couple of weeks will place markers on ally's to make it easier to tell who is friendly. You will need to wear a helmet and have the mission tracked to see them.) The multitool doesn't do anything on its own, you need to drag in an attachment for it to do anything. Tractor beam is currently the most useful. You need special ships (larger rocks/asteroids) or multi tool with mining attachment (pretty much everything smaller) to do mining. (A prospector is the best single person ship for space mining currently. Or a greaycat ROC, for mining smaller rocks, though the multi tool can do most of what the ROC can do.) I think that answers every question I heard. If you want to do something pointless but still fun I'd try getting one of the hover bikes (nox, dragonfly, or hoverquad) and find some canyons on a moon. Daymar is a great place for this. (You can also try the player created event, the Darmar rally.)

The turret attacking you at a bunker you are supposed to defend is a bug. Once you get close enough to trigger the next stage of the mission(once it tells you X/X enemies remaining), it stops. The number remaining is also all over the place, and doesn't currently match up with how many enemies are actually there. In the patch(3.17.2) that is currently in testing, 'friendly' NPCs in combat will have an AR marker above their heads, so it will soon be a lot easier to tell who is actually your target.(hint: the guys in blue black and pink are the bad guys)

It's getting better now since they started to update the graphics renderer, but before the game launches you'll probably need to update your rig at least once. Game's running well on my Ryzen7 with 32gb RAM and GTX 980 Ti but I suspect that I will need to update my graphics card before it actually launches to meet the then required hardware specs. CIG already said that their goal will be to make the requirements as accessible as possible, but that currently their focus is switching from dev-tools to more core features and only then polishing of the game to allow for better control of fidelity will follow.

5:15 insufficient space is because it automatically selects your armour to put the purchased items in. change "choose destination" to Lorville or wherever you are. 12:06 happened last video with the MSR, now he just ignored the caterpillar. In all reality though, I wonder if he cut it out of the video if he just took a moment to admire the ship. Also, when flying around in first or third person(same with walking), you can look around freely with z And ALWAYS turn cruise control of when you are getting close to something and turn coupled mode of with ALT+C when landing. Coupled mode automatically slows you down and keeps you hovering when flying, which takes a lot of control away from the player. EDIT: press tab to scan the terrain if you're in a dark environment.

Unfortunately a lot of that controversy was unnecessarily kicked up by disinformation agents known as "games media". They continue to do so to this very day, but it becomes harder and harder as the game moves closer towards completion (and once server meshing is done, which is the next big step after persistence, which is going into testing within the next few weeks, then basically it's beta and bug busting after that).

@@billywashere6965 yeah, i know, i am pretty up to date with development and stuff, and i have an org where we discuss that stuff. i'd also disagree with the beta thing, because there's still a lot of game mechanics and basic "quest" systems to add. but the fact that persistence and server meshing are in sight does give me hope that i'll live to see it released in full. and to add onto that, when sq42 launches, all of that dev power will be reabsorbed into the main game, which will hopefully speed up tasks like implementing ships and stuff enormously.
