The group is actually multi-racial. There’s 2 Rasta’s, a mixed race guy and the rest are White. A very popular thing back in the UK around late 70s/early 80s. Great times! 😎 Edit: The band has split into 2 separate groups now, and the Campbell brothers (lead singers) don’t speak anymore. It’s so sad!

UB40 was named after a form/card in the 70’s and 80’s you got when you signed on to receive unemployment benefits off the government. The whole band were unemployed hence then name. The album was named signing off because they were earring money from their music and came off benefits.

However, as with most UB40 songs, after the signing off album, this and many others after are covers that were originally produced by original artists. To be fair to them, they actually shared their royalties with those original artists in question, where as before the Jamaican record labels had ripped them off! ... Kingston Town was originally by The Lord Creator in 1970

Every song on this entire album, 'Labor of Love II', is amazing! My favorites are ' Here I am' and 'Homely Girl' Fun Fact: There name came from the form that they had to fill out while they were waiting in line at the Unemployment Office. The form was called 'UB40'.

UB40 were school friends in Birmingham..Ali is the youngest Campbell brother. Their covers are a homage to some of their favourite songs back in '70's in the clubs n pins here in UK. I first saw them live in late 70's gigging at a Student Union Bar at Keele University. Ali and Earl Falconer, keyboard, split, Astro followed when the original group released a country album. Brian Travers, sax player usually does the talking until he has surgery for brain tumors seeing him miss their 40th Anniversay tour .

Reggae calms people down with its sound. How I would have loved to have seen Bob Marley in 1980 in Dortmund/Germany in the famous "Rockpalast". All of Europe watched at that time
