As a Nuggets fan since 1993, it always irritates me when people say the Nuggets never gave Melo any ‘help’ This video proves to all of those who say that- including Melo- they were all full of it. I’ll always love Melo for saving the franchise, but he had loads of talents around him in his time in Denver

But Too many powerhouses Melo had to face from 2003-10. Spurs, Twolves one year in 2004, Suns, Mavs, and Lakers. Duncan, Garnett, Nash, Dirk, and Kobe won MVPs with their teams. Meanwhile his draft classmates Wade and Lebron had easier paths to the finals in 2006 and 2007 respectively. Your Nuggets finally got one but Just bad timing during Melo era.

One of the best moves that Denver made during Melo's prime, was trading past prime Allen Iverson for still prime and much better leader and pure PG Chauncey Billups. The Nuggets took off. Melo played arguably the best ball of his career, and then wound up in the WCF. That team was good enough to win a championship. No question. They just ran into that guy they called "Mamba" and the eventual champion Lakers.

What’s crazy to me is once they traded everyone they got better they still went to the playoffs damn near every year and u still got eliminated in the first round, so no matter whether Melo was there, or whether he wasn’t there he only made it to the second round what twice three times maybe during a what 9 year period in Denver

Although , the melo nuggets team without a doubt has some struggle issues in the stacked west , only the nuggets in the Melo era reached the west finals getting defeated by the Lakers.

During the 2000s there was a time where your seeding in the conference was determined by where you were seeded in your division, so you would have 2 60 win teams in the same division and the lower 60 win squad would be a a 5th seed in the conference because of it, or even a 40 win team as the 3rd seed because they're the best in the division, it was really stupid and made zero sense

If they don’t run into Kobe and Lakers they probably win the 2009 title. With that title no telling what that could have started with Melo as the leader. Melo faced some tough competition in west 2004-10. The Spurs, Suns, Mavs, and Lakers were powerhouses during that era. Wade and Lebron played in a weak east was why they made it to finals 2006 and 2007 respectively.

Lol Melo. Whined his way out of Denver (tough Western Conference) to go joined the New Jersey/Brooklyn Nets or NY Knicks (weak Eastern Conference) despite the Nets and Knicks sucking back then. Nuggets were tuff, good team just needed some pieces and effort to get over the top. The Nuggets were better than the Knicks and Nets back then. Denver is a mid/small market while those teams in the East were the big markets. Melo and his wife are from the east coast, NY. So that was a big factor. His actress, model wife ( LaLa ) thought that Denver was a boring rural city in the Rocky Mountains, wanted the glitz and glamour back in NY to further her career. So off they went to NY. A decade later the Nuggets wins their first NBA championship with better, hard working loyal stars like Jokic and Murray. NY Knicks in the meantime are still waiting for their first NBA championship since 1973. The End.

The west was open not even the spurs could repeat. They were getting beaten by teams like the grizzlies, and mavericks who were 50-60 win teams.
