I wish every channel would do content with customizing cases, laptops, AIO's, custom loop builds and everything with testing. In my younger days, we'd talk about these on a certain overclocking forum and at least one person in each case building thread would try different things out and report their findings, put them all together and it was easy to learn what you needed with most cases and functional hardware on the market. Keep the awesome modding videos coming Jay, I'm sure I'm not the only one who appreciates them!

If you're going to print a modified grill, why not build the spacer into it too and print it as all one piece? So you can then also make the corners and screw holes the right depth for the screws you have.
@Finduh Жыл бұрын
no shit? it's almost like he mentioned this a few times in this video and his last video on this system LOL. you're a genius!

A spacer between the fan and the grill will impact of the astetic more than you would think. sff case like that even more so, i may be a shit designer but its not easy.
@asianaquaintance3898 Жыл бұрын
If they had the spacer incorporated into the grille, 3d printing it would be more trouble since the grille pattern would be floating in mid air and would need support material which would add to post processing. If you're quick on the uptake then printing one part after the other would only take 20s maybe to remove the old print and start the next print, additional electricity use is neglegable. Having the spacer seperate is better since you can then do comparison tests of (new grille) vs (old grille) vs (new grille + spacer) vs etc. Plus, if they want to change the spacer depth, they just need to reprint the spacer and not a whole assembly.

Looks great. I was wondering how a cage over the AIO fan would look instead of the grate. Think work light cage. That's what i really like about your approach of 3D printed panels. You can change a panel to alter the appearance of the build down the road if you feel like it. Really cool, great job!

One of the crazy ideas for a computer case would be a sand race car from the movie Star Wars. Where I would use 4 cooling radiators, 2 for one engine and 2 for the other engine, and connect the pipes and cables to the cockpit where the computer would be located, of course the computer would be intended for the wall, but I would not have a problem with modeling and making plasma connections between the engines. Ideal for all loyal Star Wars fans.
@mikepunko2365 Жыл бұрын
I played with my fan configurations on my LianLi Tuf120 case. Removing the metal grills made the largest difference. I picked up some of those bolt on grills and was able to get an overall decrease of 5-7c in my GPU Temps. I never did like the OEM grills on any case.
@fasel. Жыл бұрын
I remember jay saying that he thought about using a 240mm rad, but ended up not doing it because it would be flush against the case so the air couldnt really escape. What if you add standoffs to the case and mount the 240mm rad to those so they are spaced out a bit from the case, the air could escape through the gaps that the standoffs create and you could cover it by printing vents for the sides?
@HalGailey Жыл бұрын
Did I miss exhaust with the Louvres removed? Would have been nice to see if that had similar uplift like it did for intake

Move the rad to the outside of the panel then you have enough room for push pull. And if painted right would fit into the design.

@Marandil Жыл бұрын
After cutting off the grill you can add two more cuts for pipes and move the AIO rad out of the case; the pipes can go through the hole; then you can do a push-pull *and* have a better clearance.
@t12121 Жыл бұрын
Very cool setup. Like it.
@madizm654 Жыл бұрын
How about making an epoxy spacer for the top? That can house smaller fans for exhaust on top? You can make the epoxy cast with a protomolecule design and backlight them with LEDs. Im sure you can come up with something incorporating both the louvers and the "protomolecule-spacer".
@DJBucho Жыл бұрын
Jay, could you do a follow up video with the mesh cut out from behind the Twin GPU fans and the top exhaust vents. I've always cut out all the mesh that's been in front or behind my fans, simply because it has to be a restriction (even if just a small one) but I've never actually done a before and after comparison of the temps.

I run 6x120 at 2k rpm intake, and 6x120 (push pull) @ 1200-1600 rpm, and I can definitely tell the whole system is happier when the exhaust is higher despite overwhelming positive pressure. Nice thing though, is you can play games with the exhausts at 1200 when the load is low and it's super quiet overall.

Unless you're using budget parts that use cheap components, you REALLY shouldn't have to worry about internal case/exhaust temps. Even "decent" components are rated to run at surprisingly warm temps, and all you need is airflow, even 'warm' air will remove plenty of heat from components. Stagnant air is far far far far far more of a concern than 'warm' air that's consistently flowing. You really should only need to worry about CPU temps, GPU temps, and just making sure you have airflow over the rest; there's certainly exceptions(maybe a certain case design just kills airflow around the motherboard VRM for example, or re: a lot of budget boards), but you generally just shouldn't have to worry about them. Enjoy the quieter fan speed! Glad to see that the case grill is getting cut out, that was driving me crazy having that fan sandwiched between the grill on the case and the 3D printed great, just choking that thing! lol Shout out to 120 AIO gang! Ran one FOREVER, all while watching videos telling me about how I just shouldn't even consider a 120 because they aren't enough for anything but low end hardware. Except I guess a lot of TechTubers were just assuming that(used to that Intel life maybe?), cuz I've run a few gens of 6 core Ryzens overclocked on 120s a good bit.

@matjazwalland903 Жыл бұрын
The processor cooler is seriously suffering. It might be better to enlarge the hole and put the two propeller radiator on the outside and at the same time get rid of the static air pressure problem. In terms of appearance, you can model it as if it were a spaceship hanger. For the next project, it would be nice if you could make an engine from a car, if of course you still have a styrofoam casting! From a couple of years ago. Another idea would be to make a water tank which would be additionally cooled by old laptop coolers if the water temperature rose.

If you air temp are going to be over 60 degrees exiting the case then you are going to start running into problems with the printed parts, as PLA has a glass transition of 60 degrees so warping of the parts is going to be a big thing. I would recommend re printing you parts in ABS or ASA, or even PETG as you are painting them as wont need a heated chamber then.

I run my computer in it myself, and temperatures are good, as the 4090 buls fresh air from Outside the case. Also, for a cooler effect, you could just cover the hub, do tiny cross sections, like the new one with 3-d print. With a small bubble on the edge to smooth airflow. A center area to cover the hub lights, and the section covering the edge leds to increase airflow, like the gpu fans but smol.
