Dmod VS Gmod (Explained)

just came across this video, for whatever reason i completely missed it. I'm the developer of Dmod. I appreciate you made a video that wasn't just bashing the game (which is what I fully expected this to be). Dmod did really just come from a passion project. I was stuck playing games like tibers box when I was younger that had almost no content and looked absolutely nothing like gmod. Dmod is basically just the game I always wish I had to play. I'm really glad it got so popular and actually provided that to the younger generation of people now that were able to play this instead. I am mostly moving on from dmod now though, I've got much bigger projects to work on, but Dmod was a really awesome experience to have as a beginner dev. I used it as a hub for trying out new things for me to code, adding new mechanics, new features, etc. and it helped me learn enough to get to the point I'm at now. I'm now working with a few other people on a big PCVR project and i hope Dmod will always be a cool project to look back on in the future, as long as it doesn't get taken down that is. I highly doubt that Valve or Facepunch would take down DMOD. Both company's are totally fine with fan games as long as they are free and the fangame requires you to own the base game. Even though there is no way of DMOD checking that you own GMOD, I would say Its fine.

In flatgrass, it also has a secret room. If you no-clip into one of the walls on the inside or outside you might find it. It's pretty big so it ain't hard to miss.

In regards to the console valve has an excellent documentation on all of the things you can do with it, it's easy to understand, and they go into a ton of depth. Basically anything you can do in Gmod you can do in the console (like welding things, setting things on fire, changing the scale of things, etc!) and the commands are interchangeable amongst all of the source games (aside from game specific ones of course like sv_portal_placement_never_fail being portal specific)

Im pretty sure if valve wants to Copyright DMod, it would be sueing GMod (and DBMod) First. Also valve didnt make GMod it was facepunch studios. Anyway, good to see you still making content to this day!

Facepunch and Valve have agreed that Facepunch is allowed the use the Source Engine and everything that comes with it: most importantly the props anf such. No similar agreement has been made between Valve and Dmods creator, meaning Valve would be completely justified in taking down Dmod and not Gmod.

GMod, and it's assets belong to Valve, Facepunch, and a few independent map-makers, it is their property and if they dont want to make it on mobile, then its not coming to mobile, and it doesn't justify someone stealing most of the games content to put on the app store.

You should try one of the mobile TF2s that keep appearing and disappearing on the app store I've played a few and for some reason they all have a random Loki helmet from Avengers as a cosmetic, also they're pretty chill on the ads as well as allowing you to earn points from playing to buy cosmetics instead of being like other apps or even standard TF2 where you have to dump billions of dollars to dress up. Also daily spins!!!!!
