PLATINUM TIER TIP: I have fell in love with learning kanji by searching and using the historical etymological meanings of each symbol as mnemonics after i realized that they were "stick figure" drawings put together portraying, often metaphorically, complex descriptions of things, instead of random strokes put together according to popular japanese belief.

Love this. I also know 4 writing system, hangul, kana, kanji, baybayin. I first taught myself hangul because out of nowhere I just saw a vid saying that "you can learn hangul only in one day". Out of my boredom I tried and I can't believe that after 30 minutes I can read! After a month tried hiragana and katakana that took me 1 week to memorize. While kanji still on the process knowing more and more everyday. (Learning 日本語 ) Baybayin is a filipino old writing system that took me 4 days to memorize.

There are not that many and even If you learn like 4000+ you will never use like maybe 1500-2000 of them so why learn them. You can learn the 常用漢字and it will be enough. I know around 1500~ but I still see new kanjies now and then. But I can read just fine without knowing 50000
