What's that thing you're doing at 6:27 called?
@TonyWinston Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure there's a name for it. It's a polyrhythm bouncing around on the scale. I'll think about covering this in a future video
@andrewstrasser Жыл бұрын
@@TonyWinston I've been in a frenzy and desperation to learn how to do this so if you make a video that would be incredible
@andrewstrasser Жыл бұрын
@@TonyWinston I saw you go from D to G and some other stuff and then land on the C in time at the end so there was a bit of a bebop enclosure feeling but it was much more open and cascading down in roughly increments of 6 semitones

Hey love this lesson, “that’s called the Ionian mode but who gives a shit” -easy, I can jump on piano and try out, found out about you just now over at Kent Hewitt’s video -Modal Jazz “Summertime”-that you commented on. Liked and subscribed!

Hi tony, great video as always. I have a request. Can you give some tips for the peace piece of bill evans. I play the beginning of it, it is only two chords (C and F ) and very nice to improvise for beginners in just the c major scale. But maybe you have some tips to bring it to the next level. Thanx. Oh and i am also a bachlover. GEEN DAG ZONDER BACH ( this is dutch).

Hi Tony, always interseting to watch your videos.... By the way, may I know what software do you use for the display of the keyboard with notes and chords? Any link available? Thanks

So what you're telling me is that playing LYDIAN on a major chord is like playing DORIAN on an aeolian minor chord?
@TonyWinston Жыл бұрын
I had to think about that for a minute but yes, you are correct. C lydian and A Dorian have the same notes
