Believe it or not this kind of thing is bread and butter for a jazz band. I've called new tunes on the bandstand and just sung the parts to the rhythm section in real time then off we went. Cool demonstration though.

Exactly. It's about finding distinctive callbacks that celebrate the original work, but then having the freedom to just walk around with it. You are not re-creating the original, you're saying lets go and jam with the colors that we've been given, and paint a new picture.

This couldn't have been very difficult for serious musicians. It's not like Nirvana's music is all that complex.

I didn't think anything could improve on this song, and I was right, that was horrible with the horns just blasting out the main theme over and over and over again.
