I got a lot of recommendations for this, although, I get the feeling many of you would like to offer other tunes for me to hear of this band. :-D
Yes, Golden Earring did Radar Love, but THIS is the fill I remember from White Lion's version.
Thank you for clicking!

yea tbh this big band take that BR did was ...eh....not the best..... he could have spent a bit more time trying to appropriate more of the isms of the genre. sounds forced and thin. fills are too obvious and blunt. i probably wouldnt do too much of a better job, but if I was required to for a band i was in I would probably find a way, as I have before. Big band is not THAT far off of just 6/8 or swung style heavy drumming. at least the part that was kinda more trueish jazz was only a few bars. that part made me cringe....mostly because of the fact they didnt bother to change the velocity "algorhythm" on the sound replacement. just sounded so fake, no texture.

@@Spenjira Fucking agreed. Huge BTBAM fan since high school (I'm 26 now) them/Opeth were a big reason I went from playing general "metal" (60s/70s/80s/90s/nu-metal) to prog, deathcore etc. Have always written my own music too, in a bunch of fuckin' genres (from metal/rock/funk/proggy deathcore stuff etc., to pop/hip-hop/trappy stuff, film/game scorey stuff, and not just complete garbage). Started really learning jazz about 2-4 years ago (after always trying to throw "jazzy" sounding stuff in my music). Reading elsewhere in the comments about how everything BTBAM done was leading up to this song? It is mostly cheese from what I can hear. Which is a big part of their personality, there are some great riffs/grooves of course, it is still killer in it's own right, but it isn't like a "great jazz tune", which sure they weren't going for, but agreed that they could have used isms. Imitation is the purest form of flattery, this was a lot more of an approximation, than the real thing, no?

I’ve never heard or seen him play becore watching this, but for me it’s utterly soulless and generic metal drumming. In this genre there are so many unique players, I don’t understand why this guy (who plays exactly what you expect exactly how you expect it) should get more recognition.

Jordan Buckley of Every Time I Die had a great quote in an interview he did years ago. Some bands have two influences and write the same shit over and over again. Others have 10 influences and write some crazy ass shit. BTBAM is that second category. If you look up their cover album you'll see that wide range of influences. If you want a more straight forward BTBAM song, you should look at the Obfuscation play through. Finally! BTBAM! Man you are in for a treat if you dig into them, no song is alike, one crazier or weirder than the other, you never know what to expect. It IS how Between The Buried And Me Sounds..but also not. This particular recording has the vocal volume way down in comparison with the studio version. Anyway..great choice for a bigband infused fun track this one, but IMO not the best choice when it comes to drumming. Blake's chops aren't even really on display in Voice of Trespass. Check out Obfuscation! There's a video of him recording the drums for this track for the record. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZ-qqXSLd7KNfrs

You need to listen to the album this comes off. Especially the opening track "The Proverbial Bellow". Absolutely brilliant.

Suggestion: when you do a drum cam, could you load the studio version in another tab and at least skip through it after for context?

Golden Earring did Radar Love. White Lion did a cover. Golden Earing was formed a year before the Rolling Stones FYI....

Yeah but I think he refers to White Lion's version specifically, which is slightly different.

Is this how between the Buried and me sounds? Let's just go with yes and no. They sound like everything you have ever heard. Very "proggy"

I was lucky enough to have met all the dudes in BTBAM after a show in 2007 and oddly enough they told me that the only dudes who really have a ton of formal music theory based training are the bassist, vocalist and “main” lead guitarist as they both do leads

One of my favorite bands and drummers. They're awesome live. Alaska is fun to play guitar to.
