So glad you did a reaction to Jamie. He deserves so much more recognition as one of the most creative drummers in all of metal currently. His cymbal work alone is really what separates him from many other drummer who are fantastic in their own right. He seems like a very down to earth and humble guy too just from listening to some interviews Those are tattoos on his arms btw.

People are too busy praising the generic drummers in more accessible metal bands. Ulcerate are something else....and most people will never give the music the attention it deserves, let alone any single member. The music's just too hard to digest. Jamie is leagues ahead of any of the standard names you hear in metal, no question.

Regarding the headphones... My band Phobocosm toured with Ulcerate in the US for a full month in 2016 (nicest guys ever, by the way) and I can say that one of the reasons why he uses a click in his headphones is because they used to have two guitar players, but they only have one more now, so Mike, the guitar player, uses a loop pedal to loop his riffs and he adds other layers while the main riff is looping. I had to do the same on that tour since our second guitar player couldn't do the tour, and it's next to impossible to do this if you're not using a click, because the looped track can easily become out of synch with the drums. When I say loop, I don't mean pre-recorded tracks, by the way. Both Mike and I looped riffs that we just played.

My patreon request finally made it in! Those are solid black tattoos, he designed them himself. Dude does all the graphic design for the band’s album covers and merch too. So glad you finally got to this! Worth it signing up to your Patreon just to get this reaction! At 1:26: "What is happening?" Ulcerate have been a fixture of my playlist for about the past year. I keep listening, and I keep asking myself this. It's not just the drumming. This is the first music I've heard in ages that I can't even intuitively figure out what's going on. And it's not just the technicality; the way they use constant dissonance and unresolved tensions make for incredibly palpable, oppressively heavy music. They are really something new and special in the world of metal, truly the soundtrack to the apocalypse.

You bring some class and knowledge to reaction videos. I'm from NZ, and in my opinion, Ulcerate are our best export. They also seem to have achieved much more than any other nz band who got international attention. Obviously I don't mean commercial success, I mean the no compromises, respecting your hardcore fanbase, getting respect from the top musicians in their field and evolving the art form, kind of success. I don't see many popular, commercially successful bands where every album is better than the last, yet death metal has so many. Seems there's some benefits to not whoring yourself out

This guys on words “I’m trying guys, I don’t know what’s going on. “, “He’s all over the place.” Now this is coming from an experienced drummer. Technical Death Metal, Tech Deathcore, Mathcore, etc are disliked by most because people have no clue what’s going on because they can’t process it. I appreciate the hell out of this guy and I’m glad I subscribed to his channel due to him coming from a different genre of music and helping shed light on some awesome misunderstood genres that is Extreme Metal/Extreme Drumming. Of course the majority of people are not going to like this style of music but it deserves respect. It’s not like Mainstream Music where: The so called “Creative Musicians” don’t even write there own music or lyrics. They pay 💰 to have other people to do it for them. So how exactly are they “Creative”? Oh yeah, how stupid of me! I forgot, it’s because of their “Image”. It’s because of the way these Mainstream musicians look and act that they are considered talented, creative, musicians.🤦♂️
