It's Luke Holland bro. That's what it's like to watch Luke lol. There is so much going on in his drumming, that if you talk, you'll miss something. I think all you have to do is look at Garrets face and that says it all. Sometimes there are just no words.

@sorak1854 жыл бұрын
Luke is a technically talented drummer, but all I've ever seen from him are covers. He doesn't seem to have any creative talent of his own. I can play a fair number of guitar riffs from John Petrucci, does that make me a great guitarist? Even I don't try to claim that title. Being able to copy does not make a person actually "good" at the instrument. Luke can play, there is no doubt about that. But can he *create*? I haven't seen any evidence that he can.
@austinhamilton94444 жыл бұрын
@@sorak185 just because you didn't write something doesn't discredit talent. If you can play dream theatre songs on guitar, you're talented. Same goes for every instrument.

timeshifter08 Yeah so this video is a play-through of a song off of his album with Jason Richardson... Which means he wrote the drum part for this song and all of the others on the album. So your claim is already kinda baseless given the fact that he “created” from scratch in the very video you commented on... While he does do a lot of drum covers on his channel (which more often than not are original drum parts that he creates for an already existing song), he has a ton of original music as well. I’d suggest checking it out. Especially the stuff with Jason Richardson because every single song is just as amazing as Tendinitis, if not even more so.

Your videos got me through a 9-hour tattoo session as I binged watched all of them. I was laughing out loud to some of them, much to the confusion of the tattoo artist - but you really got me through the day :). I am not a drummer, in fact, I play no instruments, but I consider myself a geek of various things and a metalhead and that's what makes your reaction videos so entertaining because you are geeking out over the drumming you are watching :). But you also add another layer to it by offering some expertise, ie breaking down what it is that we are seeing from a technicall point of view. I am entertained and I am learning about drumming, thank you!

Interesting thing about Luke is that he's mostly self taught and came from a marching band background
@RobCartwright4 жыл бұрын
I don't mean to be argumentative, but if he came from a marching band background, he's anything but self-taught. Marching percussion is basically constant instruction.
@BarstucksCoffee4 жыл бұрын
Rob Cartwright I guess it’s just how Luke said he went by. I’m assuming he was a marching snare/tenor/quad drummer which probably doesn’t require the same type of coordination as a drum kit. That co-ordination is probably what Luke was referring to as the self-taught element. You could argue that it’s similar to learning how to play bass after being primarily a guitarist. Similar instruments, but the fundamentals and methodologies can be distinctively varied.
@RobCartwright4 жыл бұрын
@@BarstucksCoffee Again, not trying to be argumentative, but in my experience, drumline requires the same or more coordination, particularly if you're playing at a high level.
@fletcherhunt43744 жыл бұрын
@@RobCartwright i wouldn't say high level, i mean HS marching band is as high as he went. kids a year younger than me and went to my rival high school. he was just starting to get his KZbin channel going in HS though and was learning kit while he was in marching band. beast either way!
@user-fl6jf4pn2o4 жыл бұрын
Rob Cartwright As someone who has marched at a world class DCI level AND is a gigging percussionist pursuing a master’s in performance, I’m going to have to 100% disagree with you. Marching band, even at a high level, does not require the same type of coordination that playing drum set does at a high level. Does it require a high level of coordination? Yes, of course. I just haven’t seen it transfer to drum set in all of my experiences.
