Yay! As a beginner/intermediate guitarist, Jason Richardson is one of my biggest guitar heroes! If I remember correctly Jason is the one who composed the orchestral intro. He's one of the best musicians of the current era of virtuosic guitarists/instrumental musicians that's been helping push the guitar to new limits technique wise while creating some awesome music. He was in a few bands before he started his solo band with Luke Holland who's the incredibly talented drummer. Previous bands including All Shall Perish, Born of Osiris, and Chelsea Grin. He's also currently the lead guitarist for All That Remains. A few songs I'd recommend you checking out that are from similar artists are The Woven Web - Animals as Leaders, Aviator - Polyphia and Shibuya - Covet. Another one of Jason's songs worth checking out is Hos Down. It features little parts from multiple genres that somehow mix to make a pretty awesome song. A song from someone you've already reacted to on the channel is Deep Peace - Devin Townsend which is definitely my favorite of his songs. There's a live version with his normal backing band as well as at least part of an orchestra. Thanks for putting out the awesome content. It's interesting to me hearing the thoughts of someone who's had quite a bit of music experience/knowledge and their ways of describing how they believe a song comes together. Looking forward to watching more content!

Great reaction man! Jason does the arranging for the strings. He said he wanted his album to sound like it was part of a movie track so a ton of the music off his solo stuff has orchestra bits in it. He is a phenominal guitar player and Luke is an absolute beast on the drums! Jason also tracks the base and the synth and they just back track that live. So glad you checked this out. If you want more from him i would check out Hos Down or Omni. He even has a song with the singer from periphery on the album called Retrograde!

Im not sure who wrote the orchestra , i think it was Jason Richardson. Jason uses over samples a lot in his arrangements where he plays and records sections and loops them live with multi foot pedals and switches. Luke Holland originally did a couple covers of some of Jason's songs . As far as i know someone else wrote the original drum track with input and direction from Jason Richardson... Jason liked Luke Hollands covers and teamed up with him to do some shows. I've been following Luke Hollands YT channel since he was 16 and doing drum covers , while playing in a Peoria Arizona local band called The Word Alive . Luke Hollard has done drum covers of everything from Techno type songs like Skrillex , Chris Brown, Missy Eliot to songs from Animals as Leaders , Periphery, etc...

I'd love to see some branching into different languages as well, like the Soch video you did. There's so much amazing music around the world that we're missing out on! My vote is for Khwaab by Thaikkudam Bridge. Won't nerd out too much right now, all I can tell you is that they've made songs with Guthrie Govan, Marco Minneman and Chris Adler, to name a few. They blend Carnatic (folk) music with western rock. Let's share more music from around the world please!

On the subject of "Doom stuff" has there been anything from the games on the channel yet? Otherwise it's gotta be BFG Division or The Only Thing They Fear...

Do a series on all their videos! Also the most insane example of Jason's playing recorded on video is XIV/Behold. Look that up.

I've followed pretty much all of Jason's career as well as taking lessons from him in the past. He composes and writes everything himself. When it comes to drums he writes a skeleton and then Luke revises them.

@@joshkuhnmusic that is super cool I’m serious! He is a musical mastermind I can only really think of one other guitar player like him and that would be John Petrucci

If you enjoyed this style of composition and around this genre of music I can't recommend enough that you should check out a guitarist by the name of Jeff Loomis. His work is breath taking. Whether it's his solo work or from his old band Nevermore. You should also check out a guitarist by the name Keith Merrow. Both him and Jeff have done extensive work together. Even creating a project band named Conquering Dystopia. Keith also has solo stuff. But anything from Nevermore, Jeff, and Keith are just amazing and definitely worth the listen.

Absolutely love this song and your reactions/analysis/decomposing! A little bit off genre, but if you get time please check out “The Horse” by A Wilhelm Scream. They’re a great punk band based out of New Bedford, Massachusetts.

Watching you a bunch recently and subbed, would love to hear your breakdown on "Truth" (1998 version) by Devin Townsend from the album Infinity, if you could add that to the pipeline would be amazing!

Hello Geebz! Could you please do - Not Unlike The Waves by AGALLOCH? It is sort of progressive folk metal mixed with post-rock, doom and black metal. Also, very tribal sounding and atmospheric. Dark and depressive, but somehow hopeful and uplifting at the same time. Strange blend, almost like life itself. Sadly, they disbanded in 2016, but their music was amazing.
