Great reaction man! Jason does the arranging for the strings. He said he wanted his album to sound like it was part of a movie track so a ton of the music off his solo stuff has orchestra bits in it. He is a phenominal guitar player and Luke is an absolute beast on the drums! Jason also tracks the base and the synth and they just back track that live. So glad you checked this out. If you want more from him i would check out Hos Down or Omni. He even has a song with the singer from periphery on the album called Retrograde!

Yay! As a beginner/intermediate guitarist, Jason Richardson is one of my biggest guitar heroes! If I remember correctly Jason is the one who composed the orchestral intro. He's one of the best musicians of the current era of virtuosic guitarists/instrumental musicians that's been helping push the guitar to new limits technique wise while creating some awesome music. He was in a few bands before he started his solo band with Luke Holland who's the incredibly talented drummer. Previous bands including All Shall Perish, Born of Osiris, and Chelsea Grin. He's also currently the lead guitarist for All That Remains. A few songs I'd recommend you checking out that are from similar artists are The Woven Web - Animals as Leaders, Aviator - Polyphia and Shibuya - Covet. Another one of Jason's songs worth checking out is Hos Down. It features little parts from multiple genres that somehow mix to make a pretty awesome song. A song from someone you've already reacted to on the channel is Deep Peace - Devin Townsend which is definitely my favorite of his songs. There's a live version with his normal backing band as well as at least part of an orchestra. Thanks for putting out the awesome content. It's interesting to me hearing the thoughts of someone who's had quite a bit of music experience/knowledge and their ways of describing how they believe a song comes together. Looking forward to watching more content!

Hello Geebz! Could you please do - Not Unlike The Waves by AGALLOCH? It is sort of progressive folk metal mixed with post-rock, doom and black metal. Also, very tribal sounding and atmospheric. Dark and depressive, but somehow hopeful and uplifting at the same time. Strange blend, almost like life itself. Sadly, they disbanded in 2016, but their music was amazing.

Jason Richardson's albums are terribly produced. It's disgraceful that you can't hear the guitar over the other few instruments. I noticed that his current producer mixed the Within Temptation album Resist but they did NOT let him produce it. He learned absolutely NOTHING from his experience hence why he was never asked back again. This song is all noise. It's as if ChatGBT composed it. Let's throw in as many time signatures and drum fills as we can to make us look genius. They are NOT geniuses. Mozart, Beethoven, Satriani, Vai, all of Dream Theater, Daniel Gibson (producer) are geniuses. While Richardson and Holland can play to high level they have no idea how to compose to a high level. They should go back to listening to their idols Dream Theater albums to hear how every note is heard no matter what the instrument. Noise isn't music..... it will always be noise. Maybe he will cop on in a few years but thus far he creates noise.

If you enjoyed this style of composition and around this genre of music I can't recommend enough that you should check out a guitarist by the name of Jeff Loomis. His work is breath taking. Whether it's his solo work or from his old band Nevermore. You should also check out a guitarist by the name Keith Merrow. Both him and Jeff have done extensive work together. Even creating a project band named Conquering Dystopia. Keith also has solo stuff. But anything from Nevermore, Jeff, and Keith are just amazing and definitely worth the listen.

Mmmmm....saw the link and am already thinking...yea you'll have a field day with this one. Jason and Luke combined....a composer's dream...or nightmare. Jason is in another project right with All That Remains, replacing the great Oli that died, I'm sure you are going get some rec's for that and Jason's other stuff when it drops. Look forward to seeing if you dig it. Theres a track you haven't done by Born of Osiris, White Nile, Jason was in the band but left way before that. People would love seeing you react to it. But the guitars are the same style with the trills on the whammy and the rhythm. You'd get a kick out of dual solo.

Romans 10:10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.” 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Jason Richardson wrote all. Luke took care of drums. Bit, this is pretty much all Jason. i will say, watch pretty much ANYTHING from these two guys to blow your mind further.

You gotta do Hermann Szobel. 1976 jazz fusion album. Nephew of Bill Graham. Found it on a Rolling Stones magazine list.

I think the bass is Jason chugging the G of a 7 string and totally pinching it off, not a backing track. He is playing both parts selectively. I could be wrong.

Jason writes the orchestral things, he's also a pianist. If you have an hour, watch "I", a documentary about him and the creation of the album "I"

Jeff Loomis- album Zero Order Phase, Miles of Machine. His songs seem so simple, lots of space, and is very detailed.

Do a series on all their videos! Also the most insane example of Jason's playing recorded on video is XIV/Behold. Look that up.
