Love how you don't just listen to the music but appreciate the art and skill. This is hard to do if you're not open to all types of music.

There's another version of this song that Busta have recorded with DOB, and... It's a trip. Even girls in the video are visibly disturbed. Highly recommend.

The way you hear music and then translate it to your viewers is AMAZING!!!! Being a self proclaimed music "nerd" I truly appreciate your breakdowns. Thank you.

The main sample is Galt MacDermot's Space. And of course has been sped up, hence why the tuning is odd.

Listening to your reviews is almost like discovering the songs I listened to a million times all over again. I had no idea he was rapping behind the beat or never did I isolate the baseline like you did. Howie please keep feeding him more classic hip hop.

Great breakdown. Your reaction is different! 'Tension Release that's what Life is, that's what Music is' - I caught that. Profound.

James Brown is arguably the father/grandfather of rap. Some rappers are more prominent with that energy (Busta, Mystikal) and others less so... but that James Brown DNA is there and will always be there in quality hip hop.

If you want to see some evolution from this duo, check out "Put your hands where my eyes can see!" The fish-eye lens style was really brought in by Busta. Let's goooooo!

My first girlfriend came about because of this song… she saw me in gym class and yelled “woo ha woo ha” and I yelled back “ I got you all in check” she was Black and I’m white. ( the past wasn’t nearly as decisive as 2023) .

"Woo Hah...." comes from a line of the Sugar Hill Gang's "9th Wonder" Busta's flow, where each line ends w/ the same rhyming word, it comes from a lot of Jamaican dancehall artists, to boot Busta is of Jamaican descent, as a lot of hip hop is rooted in Jamaican deejay culture.

This joint was a freaking banger in 96. Vivid memories of cutting the floor with Joe Gladd's cousin Karen at Coconuts with my girl Karen Familo in the DJ booth and Pat Bond at the bar.

Busta is so, so good. I gravitate toward "weird" artists, and I've found that to be properly, authentically weird, you either have to know/care nothing about the rules of music or be an absolute master that can bend the rules to their own desire. Busta's definitely on the "mastery" side, haha.

Busta Rhymes is definitely a fav growing up. You should check out more of his catalogue. Also if your looking for a complete eargasm please check out Tobe Nwigwe, Wake Up Everybody. He did his own rendition of the original and it is lovely.

Back in the day Busta and his group Leaders Of The New School did a track with James Brown called " Can't Get Any Harder " in 1993 .

Beep beep, here comes the dump truck of information! I'm back! Busta has been nominated 12 times for Grammys and never won. A travesty. He is one of the most nominated artists without winning...Ever. He was born in Flatbush (you know I love my NY rappers) to Jamaican parents, & later moved to Long Island. He was originally in a group called Leaders of the New School, which opened for Public Enemy gaining them quite a bit of attention. As you already know, his 1st appearance was in Scenario by Tribe Called Quest with Leaders of the New School.

You should check out the brass band Lucky Chops. They have done a lot of amazing stuff. For instance Buyo: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nXfVdKyLlJatrZI Or their cover of Hello by Adele: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b56yfqCGlMZ-qdE Both of these videos are also from the time that Leo P. - the pink haired baritone sax player from your Too Many Zooz reaction video - was in the band. Speaking of Leo P., this video of him with a big band band at the 2017 BBC Proms is sublime: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHK1cnuCoJJrms0
