So glad to see some more Soundgarden on this channel!

Love the review. I actually saw Chris on his solo tour called Songbook and that was the best show I have ever heard. He re-arranged all his past work on this tour to play acoustically and to be accompanied by a cello as well. This was about 1 year before he passed. He was so down to earth on stage just talking to the crowd after every song. It was if your friend was up there just playing and conversing.

@MusicShed Here’s an interesting/humorous tidbit about Mr. Cornell’s voice with his frequencies while recording “Superunknown“, causing a problem, mostly for the engineer and recording studio. Chris blew out FIVE (5) ~Neumann U87 microphones. The studio had to order new condensers for new diaphragms, to get them running again.🗣🎙🥊 #MusicShed #MichaelBeinhorn #MickieScott #NeumannMics #ChrisCornellRIP

Here all day for anything Chris❤ you should check out his solo song When I’m Down live at the Troubadour. Just him and a piano player. So bluesy and amazing! 😊

I need that!

Seconded… from a time when you weren’t sure if he still had that kind of vocal performance in him. Boy, did he.

Yes!! Also check out his song As Hope and Promise Fade and his stunning cover of Billie Jean. 🔥 So many terrific Soundgarden songs to choose from of course...including many deeply underappreciated tracks. Do yourself a favor and check out Tighter and Tighter. Fun review. 👍
Really, you are so excited, you need to do full album reactions

For me, Chris is the best voice. He has great range and his different tones can pull me into anything! If he sang the phone book, I would still listen ❤

There are no weak links in Soundgarden, to be sure. But I really love what you said about Matt Cameron’s ability to ‘play for the song’. I can feel his rhythms lift the work of everyone around him even when I don’t understand why. Thank you for this.😊

The best band of their time. You should do a full album reaction to Badmotorfinger

Agreed that Cornell's soulful voice is easily recognized and greatly missed.

One of my favorite Soundgarden songs. This is Ben Shepherd's coolest bass line, imo. The verse bass is interesting, but listen to what he's doing in the chorus.

It's between this one, Fell on Black Days and, mostly, Rowing for me. Badass, fun bass. Slaves and Bulldozers has a very nice one too.

Ps. Thank you. So few people that can relate to this.

Last album before the prolonged breakup….’Down on The Upside’ gets better every year that passes. ‘Superunknown’ was their ‘radio play’ coming out party, but it was nice they went out saying ‘now for something completely different’

I discovered SG during Covid and other Seattle greats like Eddie Vedder. Chris Cornell is so amazing. I am 77 year old woman plugged into all types of music all my life. I have a good frame of reference. My current obsession is Billie Eilish.

All this time I've been watching this video and mildly pondered that plane tail Chris walks by at 6:19. Now after all these decades of wondering, I looked it up. It's the tail number of Amelia Earhart's Lockheed Electra that she was flying when she disappeared.

The ongoing surprises in chord choices are clearly Kim, despite the main duty on song composition was with Chris. If you happen to read comments on the opening track of Badmotorfinger, Rusty Cage, there are quotes that they already had a cool riff, but decided to shift the chord progression in a way that it sounded as being played backwards 😀 👍

In my humble opinion Chris is up there with Robert plant and Greg allman as my favorite singers of all time.

Honestly, our humble opinions or more aptly put, our personal connections to our favorite artist are the only things that matter at all. I don’t believe that one artist is “greater” than another. More influential is another discussion. If CC moves you as much as Plant or anyone else, that’s the only important thing!

Sound Garden had that unique sound that you just cant quite put your finger on, beause they use odd time signatures and differnt tuning in all their songs. I love your comment, so true, hard to say that Any one singer is the best singer of all time but Cornell has something about him that is so moving in his voice. He makes every song believable ........ You have to do this, if just for yourself. To get a better concept of Cornells style and songwriting, seek out live footage on KZbin of his Songbook Tour , which was an accoustic performance/ album that came out in 2011. the songs on tour were not always the same because he played the new ones, plus all the songs from his entire carreer, with Temple of the Dog, Sound Garden, AudioSlave, and his other solo albums. You will see hoew much he had matured as a singer, evolved as an older singer.. and basically reinvented himself in a way, amazingly graceful.

actually let me edit that and do one better. His Higher Truth Tour came out in 2015... which I had forgotten about. His accoustic sets there were amazing and also included his other songs... I think this is what I was thinking and got confused. THOUGH the songbook tour was awsome also...
