@WiiRock77 Dont use a shake vib. You can change the frequency of a held note by opening and closing your jaw slightly. Just do this quickly and you will produce a rich vibrato. The benefit of this is that it doesnt disturb your embuchre too much unlike the shake method.

@blast4music 3rd is alternative to 1+2, in play A or E, somepeople though that easier to play highnote

hi tpboy, im pretty new to trumpet... just a question ... At the 1.10 minute mark when you repeat the start again you go to a higher note from open keys to the 3rd one down..... Is this a tecnique or a note as im unaware yet of the 3rd key down being a note in my book chart? Hope i make sense... Can anyone answer my question ?? I think its good work by the way ..well done

what do you mean you're down 1 and a half notes? oh and PS: many people find it easier to press 1 &2 because they aren't used to using their ring finger and 1 &2 ussually comes out more pure than 3, but he pulled it off well. Job Well Done!

@TPBOY. I agree with what that guy @jazzcat84 said 50/50. Keep your heard in the books, but do not and I repeat do not stay in the books. The books is like a baby which is you crawling first. Then you go out and listen to Autumn Leave with Miles Davis, and Wynton Marsalis which is you walking. The books helps, but listening to other play the same shit your on helps a lot. I'm a trumpet player as well, I'm 26, and I still look at books. But yes, after the books to play something then listen.

There are loads arrangements free online and as it's jazz you can play the melody whatever style you want
@Arborwaychet14 жыл бұрын
Right in the centre of the beat ... with the vibrato happening - is why amarujd calls it classical ... it doesn't swing enough. Easy to fix by listening to more jazz.

Sounds phenomenal, but meant as a jazz solo not classic.
Nice tone, but it don't mean a thing if you ain't got that swing.
@Arborwaychet13 жыл бұрын
Sound of classical player. Yes beautiful sound. Is it jazz? The telling point is that during the improvisation you lose your beautiful tone somewhat and the playing is less confident. For me you are clearly a 'reader' and a very good player! However, the jazz sound / articulation / free timing (you play the head in the centre of the beat) are all missing. Just follow the advice here and listen to the jazz greats and how the 'recreated' these standards each time they performed them.
@leolovestrumpet12 жыл бұрын
Your vibrato is more of a classical one, if you want a jazz vibrato you have to start doing it towards the end of the note, and man....jazz is all about style, be stylistic, you sound to classical in your playing
