Page playing Jazz, its got kind of a Latin flavor to it. Page is a great musician just like Johnny Depp is a great actor, both of them are versatile in what artist realms they can dwell in.

NICE! "On Green Dolphin Street" is my favorite jazz tune!

They're playing On Green Dolphin Street. I commend anyone out there playing attempting to play straight-ahead jazz. It's very tricky, and requires a great deal of time and effort. It sounds like Page is out there having fun and playing jazz standards. I should say, too, that it looks like he's probably reading the melody as he's playing.

@somebodyjones2 Think that this may have been early on in their "Jazz" endeavor. Will be keeping my eyes open for another gig to shoot.

He originally went to school to be a jazz musician. I'd like to see him and Chris Poland jam on some Jazz Fusion together.

Nice to know Page is so much more than just 1-finger power chord riffs.

not so good. I love page; gotta respect a man who fronts Helmet and does this on the side, but i wish there were more vids of him doing a better job on jazz tunes than this...

For a guy who has a degree in jazz guitar and an apparent solid grasp of music theory, I expected Page's technique to be a lot better than it is. I know he's known for his dissonant riffs with Helmet, but it seems like he either held back or isn't quite comfortable yet with improvised jazz soloing. I hope his chops have improved considerably since this gig was filmed.

man, ive come to the conclusion that there were more guys per capita killin it on jazz before the 2000's because of all the gig opportunities back then. With the lack of gigs, the chance of becoming really great at jazz are diminished. on top of that, when one is not gigging, they actually have to practice 2 to even 4 times as much (one gig is worth 1000 rehearsals, etc...)

I guess without all of the racks of effects from Eventide and DigiTech and studio trickery this is what you get from a mediocre guitar player who constantly yammers about his "jazz background". Hence why he probably never put out a actual jazz album his life. Stick to playing in Drop R, and leave the real jazz guitar to George Benson, John Scofield, and Charlie Hunter, etc…
