"Meantime" hits just as hard as it did 25 years ago. That's a pretty amazing feat.

Huge Helmet fan. I always loved how simple the riffs were and just how hard they hit, especially for the time. Still relevant to this day. I learned most of the first few records when I didn't know how to play and they influenced my style permanently. That was almost 40 years ago and I still play. Insatiable is my favorite song.

One of my favorite things to do since I was a teenager is play along to Helmet records and challenge myself to not screw up. Some confusing changes in some tunes but it's so satisfying to get them right. Love Helmet. Love Page. The second side of Meantime album is as good as it gets imo.

Several years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Page. He is such a kind person with incredible talent. My baby got fussy and he let her take a nap in his bed. He showed everyone a cool project he was working on. Such a great guy!

That’s awesome haha, I also got a chance to meet him for a second at the end of a show and I told him how much I appreciated his music and everything he’s done and he had a huge smile and was super happy to hear it I could tell 👌👌 he also was very concerned with the welfare of the audience, there was a handicapped/special needed person in the front of the crowd and in between songs he would ask “you doing okay?” Great, and talented dude, love him 🤘

Much love and respect for this man, and for the band, so many days, and years spent listening to them, happy to see him. My brother and I had their videos on VHS tapes, recorded from MTV, which was awesome then, that you cannot buy.

I never leave comments, but when he says he can't play the riff to In The Meantime live and sing it at the same time and how it makes him frustrated is like an epiphany. I am exactly the same kind of musician and always felt like it was a huge shortcoming. Even the best have limitations like me!

One of my all time favorite bands and to me it was the maniacal solos and the endings of songs like Unsung, Give It, Iron Head, Milquetoast, solos on Wilma and Role Model and that I always called The Noize School. 🤘🏼💀🤘🏼

In The Meantime and Iron Head is the perfect 1-2 punch. The best way to start off an album.

Helmet is just timeless for me. Pulsing, repetitive riffs played over different time signatures that sound simple (but are not) draw me in everytime. Meantime is the only song I know that 70% of it is one note, yet I have never got sick of it. Absolutely love that song.

It would be great for a musician to actually love one of their biggest hits. In recording, they play it back and forth for weeks or even months, mix it, change it, over and over. Then, they play it live maybe thousands times. There were my favorite songs end up most disliked ones since I overanalyzed and played them for a couple of days lol.

Some of their music sounds simple-but no one else comes up with anything close, that is a key paradox. The innovative use of chord structures is also important.
