I learned a lot from this video (personally i now use something like your feathered wings only more fluffy, i sometimes like to give the big feathers like a spiked edge to make them look super badass ;D) Oh while while iv'e got your attention, can you do a tutorial on tails? I always had a problem with scorpion tails for example.. yet you can draw so much with them.. manticores, demonic crawlers, and a giant mecha-tank that shoots lazers out of it's tail! ...Oh yeah and a scorpion I guess...

Yes Bat wings -Demons, first thing that came to mind was dragons! Bird winds Angels Griffins Pegasus winged cats, dogs, etc. lol fantasy nerd right here

i feel like pegasi and other greek or roman monsters and creatures are overused, even though my scope of what is right or wrong in fantasy is very narrow. i just don't feel that centaurs really fit, or cyclopes, or pegasi, heck even UNICORNS (even tho they aren't greek) also steampunk should be it's own genre and not just some excuse for guns and robots in an otherwise mystical world. the amulet series blends them pretty well, though. heh what a tangent how have you even gotten this far

I'm a sucker for realism [as far as mythical/fantasy creatures go] so if you REALLY wanna get biologically correct when you're drawing an avian person/demon/angel do the wings THREE times bigger than the height of the said person. Or at least two. Plus it looks awesome. Also look up birds. Your person can have either hawk-like wings or dove wings and it all depends on you. The actual bird wings are "fluffier" on the inside and you can play a little with that. They have around three/two main layers on the outer part of the wing and at least four/five on the inside. One at the top [which is the smallest] a second one just below it which ends halfway through the wing and another one just next to it [with ""sharper/bigger"" feathers.] And the last and biggest "row". Draw alulas and stuff if you wanna get more realism points. Remember: the closer to the body - the fluffier/softer. Hawk wings for example have "sharper" and more spread out feathers at the end. But with doves, you can go all soft curves and it will still look like a dove. With demon wings the only thing you can pretty much improve is the texture. This ain't no rocket science so you can always experiment!! ~a specialist [kinda] on drawing angels and demons uwu

No, the leading edge membrane is missing on both types. I understand that sometimes you may want to leave it out but he really should mention it's importance if you want anything that's not super cartoony. Also, the wrist and the wingfingers, the wingfingers should be actual fingers with multiple joints attached to a wrist, not sticks stuck haphazardly on the edge of the arm.

lol in the tolkienian universe, the range of draconic forms is endless (they're all still called dragons tho). glaurung, the first and "father" of all dragons, is essentially a big crocodile thing. then there's scatha, the wyrm of the north. then of course, ancdefalagon. ohhhh, ancalagon. my point is, these definitions are subjective, and don't really carry any weight. not that i ever liked the idea of wyverns anyway.

Its crazy how much which type of wing you pick affects the look and appeal of a character or creature. Like the dragon with the bat style wings looks really dangerous, while the dragon with the bird wings looks almost noble. Interesting.

I've been doing wings for ages (drawing them on OCs) so this was actually and surprisingly very helpful since I felt like the wings (in my case) were never really "complete", I've tried to add some random feathers and it just turned up weird, then I've tried to make the feathers spiky, yeah so that was a fail in attempt, then just today I've found your video and watched it, so this really helped, I'm glad that I could look up too you (since you're my 2nd favorite youtuber) and so yeah, thank you so much for doing this video, and I hope I'll see your channel pop up again tomorrow (and no I'm not gonna add sentences for anyone who comments that I need sentences)

Thats a good idea to carefully apply the human or creature form before the actual wingspan itself! At least then its easier to get the angles for the wings in better proportion.

This is really good Jazza! there's just one thing I'm gonna get in trouble for this... the anatomy of the demonic wings were a bit wrong. To be able to fly the webbing of the wing would have to end lower down at the back and the part where it does from the last finger-thing, and back to the body it would have to be a bit wider for the creature to be able to catch the air underneath and fly. If not all the air would escape and it would be left with a pair of useless wings. Just a little tip! that's what artist do, we give each other tips! ya know? But really good job! you're an amazing artist and a huge inspiration!
