ExP_Hunterdrake move your teeth and lips further apart for a more bright sound. if you are playing on your high range, position your mouthpeice so that it is about 70 percent top lip and 30 percent bottom lip. also, when youre practicing, try to play as silent as possible

Playing Long tones by filling up your lungs entirely and playing until you dont have any air left, and also using Dick Nash's way on playing the first page in the Arban Book.

I like this warm-up. Simple and it gets the mouth ready to play. But what if I'm about to play an etude with a high G, A, or B flat? Just warm up and start playing? Or is there something additional and more specific to prepare my lips to hit high those notes?

Just play 4 or more soft pedal B flats with breaks In between to relax the muscles In the face.

I'm quite late but I REALLY need help playing the trombone. I'm a beginner and am in my second year of high school. I was never taught to read notes and I'm still not good at trombone. The incident of covid has greatly effected tutoring so I never got proper help and Google certainly isn't helping either... I'm not in jazz band but I am placed in concert. I... don't know what to do and the only thing I can do is practice buzzing.

good advice thanks, i'm just starting trombone but can read and play several instruments, i find i struggle when going for example from 2nd to 4th position and dropping the tone i get loose. i find that i compensate by pressing the mouthpiece harder to my lips, i'm trying to do it by forcing more air but i think neither are right. any advice?

Sounds English pick 2 notes that go between those positions, practice buzzing on just the mouthpiece between those 2 notes and aim for an even sound, and then practice doing a glissando between those 2 notes. Finally practice doing it with normal articulation, and then maybe try it with different articulations (stacatto, marcato, legato). Hope this helps!

Also do long tones on those notes everyday with breaks in between. Thins really helps strengthen the lips.

It MIGHT be a BAC custom, Paul The Trombonist plays one, and the metal looks similar. It could also just be something like an un-lacquered yellow brass bone. But there isn't a counter-weight which is odd.

@@josephshahady8308 I'm sorry you can't understand something that, while it was not grammatically correct, made perfect sense if you took the time to read it.

everyone that plays trombone who watched this video knows full well he never does that to warm up😂 jazzplayers tend to "warm up" by improvising
