Hubert Laws was young when I first heard him playing the flute in the 1970s he actually indirectly influenced me to start music lessons. Now as an old veteran, he's more of an inspiration because he has given up all these decades and he always sounds fresh and fantastic! Thanks to this maestro, virtuoso flautist!!! The whole band is cool and fantastic.

I had the honor of meeting Hubert Laws at Texas Southern Univ. back in the 60's. He has been a major influence on my flute playing and i am glad that he is still playing and creating beautiful sounds. A true master of his instrument.

Can anybody play the piccolo with such control and understanding of the instrument?!;(not just a novelty with an unpleasant ,shrill tone!) Please pass this on to anyone who takes that instrument seriously! Thanks Mr Laws,for a lifetime of flute genius!(on all flutes;bass to piccolo!)

That Piccolo cadenza is proof positive of why he remains the most imitated flutist/piccoloist in modern music
@martinrivera5304 Жыл бұрын
not imitated....'cause nobody can.
@willidav2 Жыл бұрын
I say imitated because every conversation that I have had with flutist that want to play jazz flute, his name always is in the conversation (ALWAYS). We can't be him, but we can learn his styling and employ his techniques. In other words, in my shared opinion, he is probably the most influential player of flute in jazz.
