@mrtyrant10166 жыл бұрын
Jesus it is very, very, very long. That's 50 m
@RedKnight-fn6jr5 жыл бұрын
It's more than that - Dublin has the second longest street trams (behind Budapest) and those are 54.6m. I think the ones in Budapest are around 56m. The trams in Rabat-Sale (Morocco) consist of two articulated Citadis 302s giving a combined length of 64m (very long platforms there), but they are still considered two trams back to back. (Edit: I just realised that this 'tram' has two pantographs which might render it a street train - can anyone add to this?)

anisocoro The _villamos_ in Budapest is an integral part of its transport system. As far as I know, these vehicles are used for example on the busy line 1 circling around the city centre
@HUNdAntae6 жыл бұрын
It runs on the 4-6 tramway line which is the single busyest line above ground line. It's a "circle" line (not a full circle per se) that connects many hubs and touches all 4 metro lines (some of them not even once). It is frikking busy. Also the area that ir hugs on the Pest side is quite walkable if you have some stamina.

I'm not an expert, but can a tram have two pantographs and still be considered a tram? Is this not really a street train? The Citadis 502 trams in Dublin are slightly shorter @ 54.6m, but operate with just one pantograph.
@weeardguy4 жыл бұрын
If that's your definition off the difference between a train and a tram, the Netherlands has a huge amount of trams that are actually trains, as they only have one pantograph up... The double pantograph thing is mostly down to power-distribution. One pantograph could very well load the overhead wiring too much at one point, with the risk of breaking the wires. It's also a thing with the wiring inside the tram itself. Instead of having to wire the whole tram with 600/750 VDC from end to end, one can now have two separate circuits that are shorter. This may not look like a huge saving for one tram, but the price-point comes to a considerable mark when dealing with 30 trams or more.

Technically, they are not the longest in the world. Although they are the longest single unit, some cities run two five section trams joined together which are longer, and eventually Sydney could be running two seven car units joined together, making 14 car trams

Okay so a lot of people think who haven't been to budapest or not know that much stuff 'bout it that the tram is beautiful etc. And... that is true but we only have it on one line and that very line goes through budapest's worst parts basicly the ghetto and then in to the innercity so if you ever go on this line in the outer places BE CAREFUL! there has been incidents of innocent people getting shot with drugs and also that area is filled with dealers. And that is it
