I have a tight Selmer piccolo and i never play on it because it's a chop killer combined with a Bach 3C or 7E. Both mouthpieces sound good but soon start to bite in my lips unless perhaps you can do it as mr. Austin explains. Recently I tried a second hand older Courtois '3d" mouthpiece with a small diameter (16?) , semi-flat rim, medium deep bowl cup and very open back bore. That combination works but playing up to the high C still remains impossible without strain. So I will follow the advice found here.
