I love the sound my 3.7 makes but knowing how much power I can get out the 3.0 makes me regret my decision everyday

Sometimes it's not about the power but what the vehicle makes you feel. There are many people who prefer slower cars just because of their characteristic. 3.0 engine is more whiney but since it weights less and is smaller with turbo it is peppier. 3.7 growls and reminds me of the subaru rumble at times.

Admiral Ackbar the 3.0t engine does sound good but the fake engine noise sounds like an old ornery house cat is crouching under the gas pedal, growling at you every time you press it down. Some like the sound; I do not because it’s too artificial sounding. When you switch that off the engine actually sounds really good for a V6, although it is too quiet. It sounds a bit like a GTR engine, only it’s a couple neighborhoods away haha.

Just started watching your videos and I appreciate the info. You got me wanting to buy a Q50 now after spending months trying to find a hemi Chrysler 300 to upgrade. Seems like this might be the best bang for my buck. I got 7500$ saved up for a down payment and I’m trying to find something i can finance our the door for under 20k (after tine) when it’s all said and done so my payment is around $400/mo. Wondering if I could pay you a small fee to send me a custom map that’s proven reliable (to you) for a premium 3.0 Q50. I chose a conservative experienced tuner. I'm at 13 revisions to my map. He has fast map turnaround. I'm at 1.3 bar, the other major tuning company is at 1.4 bar. We both make similar power. Mine is not a dyno queen. I drive on the road, not on a dyno. I got 1 year support on map revisions. I probably could get more power with the other company but don't want to push my turbos at that level. Not much return on pushing boost over the efficiency range. It makes tons of heat for a few ponies. Not worth it. If you want big numbers get bigger turbos or get a full flex fuel system. I don't have access or want to go E85 mix just pump gas at E10. I prefer E0 if I can get it. I'm NOT fond of alcohol in my gas. They don't allow it in avation fuel for a reason. I agree and wish I had a source for 93 non ethanol gas. More BTUs per gallon. I do plan on bigger turbos and have all supporting mods. Your transmission needs to be upgraded to handle the power. With my EcuTec tune my transmission showed signs of overheating. That was b4 I tracked my car too. Level10 installed a higher flow pump to aid in cooling, along with EVERYTHING they can do. It was more then just the torque converter and bulletproof valve body. I do wish we could shut off the nanny tec. Driving with VDC off in Sport+ helps, but don't eliminate it. Not only does the car activate the brake torque vectoring it cuts power via the ECU when it detects wheel spin. I've done most everything you can to my AWD Q50. All that's left is a one piece drive shaft, bigger turbos, and the retune.

Stock RS400 owner here...curious if the Ecutek tune helped the transmission shifting in any way? I love my car but the trans is not the high point of the car for me, would love the shifts to be more precise, quicker, less jerky, and curious if Ecutek addresses this? That'd be a big incentive for me to risk my warranty for a tune. The trans is really the only thing about this car that makes me miss my old F30 335i with ZF8A, which was near perfection for an auto.

If you get the right tuner the EcuTek will drastically change the temperament of your transmission. Sup Boost just bought a 2020 Q50 S Sport Rwd edition 30 and i like everything you have said about the jb4. The only issue is I only have access to 91 octane since i am in California. Do you think it is still worth it for me? A tune for me is NOT an option. Also I have seen another one that says is cool in California but its called Race Chip. Thank you I appreciate it yes plenty of people use jb4 in in California. But you cannot purchase it in California and have it shipped in California. So you might have to buy it from a third party vendor. Or purchase it from Q50 Q60 groups on Facebook

You talked about the 300hp version slipping shifts due to the increased power, will the redsport have this issue if I go with the jb4? Or is the load table on the redsport that much more than the silversport that it shouldn't be an issue. Thanks! Keep up the great content!

The transmission is the same one that exists in 37s. The general consensus is that at 400 whp that's when you run into transmission problems. NY/NJ area has a shop called levelten that specializes in building and installing durable automatics for infinitis that are modified past that limit. I think it cost about 5 grand plus installation.

@Brandon Williams JB4 Does nothing to the transmission. So its not a JB4 issue. JB4 just adds boost to the stock tune.

It depends... like most things. The RS has a few things different. Dual water pumps, oil cooler, turbo sensors, lower gearing, cosmetic differences. I'm glad I sprung for it. But that's just me. Some say you can get more power tuned with a SS, but that's at a cost of pushing your turbos out of the efficiency range beyond which the turbo sensors on the RS are supposed to limit. They are there for a reason. Already folks are having turbo failures so I'm glad I have them. A SS may get better MPG on the highway due to higher gearing, but at a sacrifice of quickness.

Wait for october or sept ypull get the rs on a luxe price. Thats what i did last yr plus I got the full option, since very few people get tje rs and its the end of the yr. They drop it alot.i got my rs full option for 51-50ish, and the luxe sells for 48-45. Depends on the options. Remember i got the 64k package they just dropped it to 50ish.get a lower downpipe(important), cbe or just muffler delete, jb4 till you ran out of warranty. You are good to go.
