Powerboost f150 has 7.2kw of power....come on superduty engineers....let's get that half ton features on your full size trucks...

My cousin has a 2021 F-150 Powerboost and he runs everything on his trailer with it. Why doesn’t the F-350 have a 30 or 50 amp plug like the F-150 does?
@mvcharisma6 ай бұрын
The Super Duty’s don’t have the high voltage hybrid battery, like the F150’s do. Non-hybrid F150’s can’t have 7.2kw either. Your alternator wouldn’t be able to keep up with the discharge rate. Once they release a hybrid Super Duty, they’ll do it

Not worth it to me. I have the champion 4000w dual fuel inverter generator for $700. You can get the Wen 4000w duel fuel for even less.

I thought with the Pro Power option on the super duty you got a 208/240 style outlet? As for the idle time -- that should bother a diesel less than a gas engine. Yeah, the particulate filter will have to go into regen mode more often than if you were driving down the road, but one of the advantages of the diesel engine is the longer life.

Just to let you know.. when your trailer is plugged into a power outlet (i.e the truck) the converter converts the 110v to 12v.. so the 12V appliances will be drawing from the truck. Still, good video. I'm looking at getting an F150 to power a trailer I also will be getting.. so likely will be looking for the hybrid with the 7.2KW onboard power.

Very good question dude! I’ve been curious about this.

Also, I am 100% able to power one AC on my RV plugged into 20 amp no problem. Do it all the time. But I am super interested in the future of this. I’ve also been playing a lot with the big solar batteries. I have one big enough to plug 30 amps into and it’s actually impressive as well. Lastly, dude the BougeRV panels are the way to go.

Shortest extention cord with largest wire is best to use
@SliderFury16 ай бұрын
Not really usable for boondocking but great in an emergency if your RV batteries die at night and you need to power your fridge, leveling and tongue jack, a floodlight, couple fans, etc. I have a generator and a basic solar package on my RV but it's always good to have multiple failsafes.

Aussie trailers often have an Anderson plug you can run straight off of the truck to run and charge the trailer while you’re on the road or parked idling.

It will be interesting to see what competitors come out with since more people are RV'ing these days or simply need to power something for a short time off grid or during emergencies w/power outages at home.

generators "grow legs" i would recommend f150 hybrid or even better a Lightning for something that wont disappear easily. this is more to charge 6-10 tool batteries at once and run your laptop.

I wpuld say its probably best to use for Winter time maybe to charge ypur 12V also while your packing the camper. To cool ypur Fridge down?.

I'm hoping to leverage the Pro Power Onboard to charge my battery bank in the 5th Wheel while going down the road so that it's at 100% when I get to the Boondock site. The motor will be running anyway driving down the road and then I can just use the batter bank once I'm parked supplemented with solar. Any reason this won't work? I jst need to find a way to run a cord through the 5th wheel hitch to the lower bay.

Maybe if you had soft starts it would run the AC

Ugh, no. Except in an emergency, why would you idle that truck to get 2kwh instead of using a cheap 2kw inverter generator?!?
@FlyingAceAV8B6 ай бұрын
Agreed. The power onboard should be used as an emergency backup and it certainly is nice to have. Getting a small generator for constant running is the way to go IMO. Save that idle time and gas.

Because you already have the truck…

@Truckinlife Other than "except in an emergency," long term idling the truck for 2kw "because you have it" is the epitomy of "penny wise, pound foolish."

Your extension cord is too small of gauge for what you're doing.

You would be certainly better off if you learned a few dynamics of electrical loads. How much did you lose by using that $9.00 cord?

So…..essentially a total waste of a system on that Super Duty if you RV. 😂
@SliderFury16 ай бұрын
Idk, good in a pinch. It's like he said, not really meant for RV boondocking but great for emergencies or things like power tool applications. I probably wouldn't option it in but my Platinum came with it and I've already used it a few times.

Are you kidding me? You must not have a commercial driver's license. Diesel engines are designed to idle for extensive lengths of time. Have you heard of Cummins or Detroit? 😅

Emissions crap.
@CatRichardBojangles6 ай бұрын
The emissions ruined that. However non emissions diesels are way better idling for long periods of time vs gas.
