The cost difference is small when compared to the already large cost of the diesel engine over the gas version. I came out of a 2020 Raptor and bought a 2024 F350 SRW 6.7HO Platnium Tremor. I would love to know the real percentage but in DFW area in TX, a 3/4 ton full on loaded pickup only needs the payload for golf clubs or rifles and a Yeti cooler for more than half of them. There are lots of them traded in 2 and 3 years old and there is not a blemish in the bed and many have the paint untouched in the hitch receiver. Ford, GM and Ram know their market.

I’ve always thought this but my head scratcher was more in line with suspension. The amount of power available way out shines the amount of suspension capacity available. If you’re out doing the gas engine then your out doing the suspension capacity as well FWIW, my 22 f250 is an extended cab 8’ bed 4x4 on 33” rubbers with a 6.2 gas v8 under the hood. It weighs almost an even 7,000lb with me and some tools inside. That leaves me with 3,000lb of available payload. Not too shabby. The only thing I would do different is the gear ratio. It’s got 3.73…. I run mountains with a trailer on the daily, all low speed stuff but steep. I think the 4.30 gears would make a huge difference where I work the truck

Part of the reason a diesel gets better mileage is the fact the engine can get the work done with less rpm. BMEP is why Cummins says the 6.7 Octane will be better than the competition. I would expect the MPG to be slightly less than the diesel counterpart(less energy dense fuel).

I believe they said they have a bigger oil cooler now too. Another separate note is I was told the large oil capacity for diesel is to trap soot as a quart of oil can only trap so much. Eventually that oil will get to temp it will just take longer. And longer to cool down too.

Interesting piston design. IMO the HO 6.7 is just not necessary. 150 extra TQ is really nothing but bragging rights. I think it would be safe to say that the F450 pickup with SO 6.7 could haul the 40k load about as well as the HO, if Ford sold a config rated as such. What I find quite dumb is making the HO available on an F250. It's such an unnecessary engine for a 3/4-ton.

@jameszeiger85336 ай бұрын
@@GettysGarage It seems that there is plenty of Super Duty failures of the CP4 on KZbin which ends up costing huge dollars (>$10K) if the system is no longer under Ford Warranty. A company called S&S makes a fuel pump that replaces the CP4 called their DCS pump. Before they released the pump this year, they also made a kit called a “disaster prevention kit” that was basically some screens for the CP4 fuel lines, which detect metal shavings during a pump failure and shut the pump down almost instantly, thus preventing these metal shavings from migrating into the injector lines, injectors and the fuel return to the tank and tank itself. That said, if someone was going to put a disaster prevention kit on a CP4 from S&S, it would be better for the labor $$ to just replace the pump as the labor to get down to the pump from the top of the motor, removing tons of stuff, isn’t going to be that much different than just replacing the pump. Some have expressed that if the CP4 fails under its warranty period, it’s a Ford issue with regard to cost and that replacing the CP4 with an aftermarket S&S DCS that might void the Ford Warranty. However, there is a law down here in the US which places the burden on the vehicle manufacturer to show that the aftermarket parts or modifications were the cause or contributing factor leading to the failure for any warranty related work an owner would be asking for to do under the provisioned factory warranty from Ford. If it was me, I would spend the dollars and have the CP4 replaced with a DCS before warranty or no warranty lapse, either way. It’s expensive as F-bomb and one would want to make sure the job was done perfectly, e.g., the lines, injectors and related things were buttoned up perfectly. It is a really, really stupid thing that Ford continues to use this pump when their competitors moved away from this disaster of a pump because they were getting killed by the CP4 warranty fixes.

When it comes to the diesel Id be happy with either Chevy or Ford tbh. For RAM I’d have to go for a 3500 HO with Aisin transmission. The SO Cummins with the 68RFE 6 speed just don’t sit well with me

@@GettysGarage NOW for the really hard question.... What about a 2500 GASOLINE engine? Chev, Ford or Ram?

Cooling the compressor housing will have a minimal effect. Going to a water cooled intercooler will definitely be less effective than air to air - this is a bad choice that will come back to bite Ford!

air to air is much more effective but I don't think ford had room. this engine is stuffed under the hood lol

Diesels are good till the Def system fails. I'll stay with my 6.2l .

Not a big deal. It last long enough then you just delete it or fix it.

The 2023/2024 SuperDuty looks absolutely horrible ! The addition of the bed & bumper steps looks ridiculous and has ruined the classic body-lines. Without a doubt the 2023/2024 redesign is the worst looking Super Duty to date. @Ford #FORD

Still way too expensive to use as a conventional work truck
@GettysGarage6 ай бұрын
they aren't cheap lol I here ya there.

That’s backwards it’s actually to expensive to use as a grocery hauler. It would make perfect sense to use as a work truck because it’s a business investment that makes money.

F250 diesel is a waste. The truck is nowhere as capable as the engine
