Man, you do a great job with these. I've not seen another channel that has the full comms and everything. Very, very well done sir! Thanks for sharing this!

This old Vet loves your videos. Flew on the C-130 back in the 70's with the Marines. 👍

Excellent landing with that crosswind! Love the exchange pilot's comment after landing, "shouldnt to that s**t from the right seat"!

Man, that aileron input on touchdown - really impressive to see that. And yes, peanut gallery, I know that that’s not really unusual, but I just want to appreciate the pilots’ skills at work.

Love these. I fell in love with the C130 as a little kid watching them fly over my house in and out of Van Nuys, CA

Seeing you land at Andrews brings back memories. I flew with the flying club there back in the mid 90's. My dad was stationed there for a few years.

I have too many projects in the works and too little time to edit. Should have a long one posted Friday with shorter highlights coming out over the following weeks.

Did you guys purposely descend below the glideslope on short final or was that just Betty doing her normal squawking?
@SpaceBaron Жыл бұрын
Looks like you guys dragged the approach a bit... Probably to keep the speed up on short final to compensate for that wicked cross wind! Have to say that the landing was very smooth for that high a crosswind!

Haha....just saw the link for the Herc plushie. I know a couple guys who fly the J-30 here in Canada and I know they'd get a kick out of it. Great content as usual! Were you flying with an exchange pilot on this flight? He's quite the character!

I was stationed at Andrews back in 88-92. I believe you came in form the south and ramped on the Air Force side. Are you still based in Dyess?

Having to steer, brake, and manage flight control surfaces along with the throttle and reversers seems like a high pilot load. How much more difficult would you say it is to control the C-130 once you transition from lateral control from the rudder to the nose wheel controls vs. an aircraft that has it tied to the pedals?
@ReachAviation Жыл бұрын
I prefer having some nose wheel steering in the pedals. The KC135, if i remember right, can obtain 15 degrees of nose wheel with the pedals and up to 45 using the tiller. In the Herk we divide up the duties and the right seater gets the flight controls. It's not too bad honestly. Only time its dicey is with a student in the left seat or an engine failure on the LZ.

I believe I would have an elevated pucker factor flying and not being able to see where I'm going .
@ReachAviation Жыл бұрын
True but we know exactly where we are down to a couple feet and have multiple ways to visualizing that position which helps.

Do you guys not wear flight suits anymore?
@ReachAviation Жыл бұрын
They are flight suits. State side we can either wear the green single piece or the OCP two piece flight suit. I tend to wear the two piece. I enjoy having pants with pockets and a belt as well as being able to take the top off when its hot out.
