I love these short videos from Dartmoor. Now that dawn is later I will wrap up and get up there more.

Thanks Tony, glad you like them. Yeah, sunrise is at a much more social hour these days isn't it! :-) Hope you make it up there soon.

Hi Julian: You certainly appeared to have a great morning of shooting and it was nice that the weather was co-operating. This seems like this would be a great location to explore and create images. Keep up the great work of creating and sharing your videos. Have you every considered doing a behind-the-scenes work-flow video on what your post-processing activities. I would be very interested in your image review and culling process. Cheers, Keith

Cheers Keith, it's a rare day on Dartmoor when the weather cooperates! lol You could spend the whole day up around the Great Staple Tor area exploring and taking images. If I only I had a whole day lol. I have a workflow playlist here - kzbin.info/aero/PLJU6FMi6Tvo97OcghsCsBlKGLXY2BcMdx - the videos are a couple of years old now, but my process hasn't changed that much. :-)

Nice set of images there Julian - couldn't help but notice that little tree in the distance! Would definitely make up a lovely photo.

@@jbairdexp Re watched your 24-200 video the other day - was going to pick up a used one but ended up pre ordering the z24-120 - 70mm is always is a little short.
@jbairdexp3 жыл бұрын
@@GingerPhotographer I've pre-ordered the 24-120 as well. Will be trading in both the 24-70, and the 24-200. 120mm is long enough for the photography I do but 70 was never long enough. On the odd occasion that I need something longer I'll rent a 100-400mm (when that comes out). Well, that's the current plan anyway. :-)

@@jbairdexp Good call, not fussed about waiting for reviews, it's an S line lens - will be mint! I heard if you're not in first with a pre order it will be a while before it's on the shelves again..

Hi Julian: This is the first of your videos in quite a while that showed up in my feed. I don't know why I haven't been receiving them, but this one came my way and I was glad to see it. Well done, as always.

Hey Paul, I've not published that many over the last few weeks so it could be just that. But who knows how it all works! lol The best thing I recommend is to turn notifications on and then set notifications from Personalised to All. That aside, you found this one and thanks for watching!

@@jbairdexp Julian, I have had your notifications set at ALL since I first signed up. But in any case, will keep a look out for ALL of your videos. Cheers!

It looked like an absolutely beautiful morning to be out and you can't beat the high places with a wonderful view. Interesting philosophy about 'best I could have done on the day'. Most photographers are their own worst critics (or at least should be) and don't just compare today's photo's to the best of their own work but unfortunately to the best of everybody else's; which is nonsensical as they weren't even there when the shot was taken. Do your best, be willing to make mistakes, learn from them. Be inspired by others work, don't compete with it. Basically, I don't watch gear reviews, at least not of anything made this century 😊
@jbairdexp3 жыл бұрын
Hey Iain, even if I hadn't had my camera with me it would be have been a joy to be up there. The views alone are worth the walk. Your point about being inspired by others but not competing with them is an excellent point! :-)

Just back in from a day in the forest and will ask myself that question after I have post processed the images. Love that early morning light on the Tor, not so sure about the mist in the valley shot, cannot say why. Odd how that sometimes happens. Thanks for sharing Julian. I have a night booked to stay on Dartmoor in December. Not getting my hopes up but fingers are crossed for some good photo weather.
@jbairdexp3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steven. It's not unusual that I think the same way about my photos....so I tend to print those photos and so I can spend more time looking at them and work out what it is that I don't like. It's not always obvious! Good luck for December!

Thanks. And no, there was no need for focus stacking. I do focus stack some images, but in this case there was no need. :-)
