I use the aerosol version of KBS and noticed it makes a huge difference spraying it 2-3times. Or Is the thickness of the liquid kbs just good by only 1 pass

I really want to try KBS, but i dont think my lures will enable me to. My problem would be how to hang them so they could/would drip properly/adequately. I make my own lures, out of wood. I have 2 designs, but neither have a loop at the tail. My eye-hooks are on the belly, about 1/3 up from the tail, and the other, the tow point, is at the front, in the cup-face. My other style, has no eye-hooks at all. Has a cup-face, and then a through-the-body hole, at a 45 degree angle, coming out on the belly. And i rig with a chain or barrel swivel running through the body. I can't, for the life of me, figure out a way that would enable me to hang these so the clear would drip off properly. I've been using e-tex, which is great, but a simpler dipping process would have been much easier. Might have to stay with how i'm doing it though.

If you’re working with a lure that’s one solid piece, hanging it straight up and down is the easiest. I just started using kbs, only done maybe 10 squarebills but I’m having issues with it globbing pretty bad on the bottom of most of them. I’m doing it exactly like you are with drip wire and everything but it’s still leaving enough mess that it’s ruining the tail end when I try to clean it up. Some js look bad and some it pulls the paint off. And on some I even get a little ridge of clear on the back of bait js above the tail which I assume is bacause it’s backing up. I don’t have the issue with S cranks only squarebills, you think it’s the angle? Maybe I need to also tend to them with a Qtip as they dry? Or is there something I can do to make it easier?

That’s weird, maybe humidity in south Texas or something. It’s working fine so far just cleaning the globbing on bottom eye Eat as it dries but the ridge of air bubbles still js seems to form at random. I can dry 5 of the same baits hang the same way and one maybe 2will get it. It usually happens when the clear has gotten very gummy and I’d be afraid to try to clean it off. I’m very maticulous about air exposure to the point I lay mason jar lid back on bottle between baits even tho it will only be 20 seconds or so til the next one is done. This is my first batch of kbs and I have not adde anything although I’ve heard people say when it starts getting thicker js js add some thinner to it instead of discarding, I purchased a bottle of the thinner made for it from kbs to try when that time comes. The only thing I can think of is that there is a window unit and a ceiling fan blowing in my shop and maybe all the wind is effecting somehow so I’m gonna set up a wire inside a large cupboard and put a dehumidifier in with it, see how that works.

If you will spray BLOXYGEN in the jar it will last a lot longer and it will not form a scum on the top. It replaces the oxygen .

I fold up a sheet of SaranWrap and place it between the jar top and threads, and the lid, screwing on the lid until it’s very tight

Do you not worry about the safety of dipping inside ? I have a similar situation being indoors but I’ve tried to limit exposure. What are your thoughts ?
@Jekyll4246 жыл бұрын
Well ventilated area is the key. If you can set up a fan that vents outside or some sort of air exchange that’s the best scenario.

Does this have a strong smell like the KBS spray can gives off?
@Jekyll4244 жыл бұрын
Most if not all clears and epoxy have odor. The canned KBS smell dissipates within 30-45 minutes
@Ho4130x3 жыл бұрын
@@Jekyll424 That's good to know. I've been using the spray can version but going to switch to dipping. Just saw a video from KBS saying they recommend brushing or dipping lures. But, I did learn that this is the best clear coat.

Is Sally Hansen close to Kbs in lure sealing ability?
@Jekyll4244 жыл бұрын
Different animal entirely BUT! It can be used to clear baits. It will smell to high heaven and your house will smell like the nail salon at Walmart, but it subsided after a bit. Use three coats, let it hang for a week or so before you use the lure. It will yellow and chip over time but it's not horrible and shouldn't be embarrassing if your limited on options or just starting out 🙂

Does the kbs have a strong snell to it? Like spray paint?
@Jekyll4247 жыл бұрын
+Tj Fisherman it has a smell, yes. So ventilated space is a must. But i don't think the smell is near as bad as other epoxys

How does this diamond epoxy hold up to the hooks marking up the clear. I make my own top water baits and pound then 8 to 10 hrs a day and have issue with hooks scaring clear coat. Thanks for info. Love your videos.
