Just bought this today, and have been blasting music for seven hours straight. The power and control of this system is simply mind bending. I’ve had this speaker for over a week now and I love it. It’s super clear and bass is rich and plentiful. You would never have to turn this full volume if you’re in house. It’s extremely loud. It’s not even a fair fight to compare it to boombox3.

I was trying to decide between a party box and the 500 and went with the 500 because I just didn’t want the party box aesthetic and prefer the 500’s beautiful design. I am loving this speaker so much and think I made the right choice.

Floss, if you’re trying out more home speakers I’d recommend checking out the Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin. It boasts a really beautiful design, supports the AptX Adaptive Bluetooth codec along with all of the other Wi-Fi enabled bells and whistles (voice assistant, Airplay 2, high res audio support etc) and I heard that it sounds pretty damn sweet too. As always though, if it ain’t got the floss stamp of approval then it’s a dud.

personally i have tested the zeppelin , at first it sounds quite ok but after awhile i started to hate their sound signature. The treble is wayyy too bright/strong and the mid range isnt really there but im curious to see flossy's opinions on it

I do believe there’s some form of EQ adjustment available for the Zeppelin within the B&W app that could help tailor the sound to better suit one’s personal preference. I personally enjoy a more scooped out/v-shaped sound signature as I find it gives a more exciting listening experience. Would definitely be really interesting to hear floss’s verdict on the Zeppelin, hopefully he checks it out sometime.

Amazing review once again, even compared it to the 2 exact speakers I was wondering about... Only thing I would've like to hear, is how those speakers compare when you're a little further away, since these size speakers are typically used to fill large areas. I've heard some speakers sound way better than another when close, but further away it's the opposite, maybe due to having more of an open sound and the details in the music carrying better over distance (like 20-25ft away). I've been bamboozled before listening to an amazing speaker only to find out when I went to the restroom or just left the room in general the quality significantly degraded. I'm sure the JBL Authentic 500's would at the very least still be very respectable, but just wonder how they compare to the boombox 3 and the Marshall Woburn 3 further away. Really appreciate your reviews as always & nobody does tech reviews better imo. Thanks

A coupe years ago I got a set of Klipsh tower speakers and a Klipsh 12 inch subwoofer to go with them for $900 straight of the 'zon, new. (Bluetooth capable too) Much as I know JBL has great quality if we're looking at $700 dollars for a home speaker then I have to say, to me, it's a losing value proposition. I'd be more than happy to throw a hundred or so dollars on top of the asking prices of this and wind up with a set of quality tower speakers and a nice subwoofer.

You should do a battle of the JBL Authentic 500 VS. Aiwa Exos 9. That would be a good battle and the Aiwa I believe is about $300ish at the moment way less than the JBL. Just throwing this out there.

Just a FYI, I purchased two Authentics 500 only to find out you CANNOT pair them together for stereo mode as advertised. JBL support said they are aware of the problem and it should be corrected in a future firmware update but they had no idea when that would happen. Not happy.

One is enought, more than enought for day and day usage, you would never pass the middle of the volume level and 50% is really loud. And the Bass... That Bass is insane!!! Best buy I ever made.

Dolby atmos In these types of speakers is a marketing gimmick. They use the name to sell subscriptions and crappy speakers. Dolby atmos adds height channels to a surround sound system. Usually a minimum of 2 extra channels placed above on the ceiling. They throw on the dolby atmos name on laptops, earbuds and forward facing speakers now but these aren't dolby atmos, it's just adding special effects like echo and delay etc to alter the sound. Even my Samsung Galaxy phone has dolby atmos lol. Go to a movie theatre that has dolby atmos and see what the original purpose was.
