I have two of the Booms and bought a Charge 5. A single Boom blows the Charge 5 away. Much more refined and much more bass. The ability to customize the sound with the Soundcore app is a game changer. I returned the Charge 5. It simply could not compete. For the same price as the Charge 5, you can get two Booms. The Soundcore Motion Boom sound paired in Stereo is simply incredible! I know… JBL has the pedigree and the big name/brand. If you can listen to these in person and adjust the EQ to your liking, you will have the same opinion. JBL just isn’t keeping up with these upstart speakers at a fraction of the price.

Can't fully agree yess boom is great for bass for price but its not louder then Charge 5 also it sadly lacks in highs also build is lower quality i personally think that if it was same price as charge 5 tweeters and better build quality would definitely increase the boom to better overall performance now its more focused on bass boosted songs

@@techderaudios I agree the Charge 5 is louder, but to me the sound is way too focused on highs. It completely loses bass when played at loud levels. The Soundcore Boom does not lose the bass. I’ll take slightly less volume that keeps a consistent sound. As for build quality, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The JBL’s are tanks, but very heavy. I actually dropped one of my Booms on concrete and it survived well with minimal scratches. I do like the weight of the Boom… very light.

Are you sure you can get two booms for the same price as the charge 5? I think you can cat two motion+, not motion booms.

@@talatdymc6539 I did… I paid $79 for both on mine on sale on Amazon. Right now they are $94.99. I paid $160 for the Charge 5 at Walmart and then returned it.

had the motion boom for a week now, it's very bassy but lacking clarity and refine sound. I think it also depends very much what music you listen to, if you listen to dance music or anything else with lots of 'boom boom' type of music then for sure motion boom is the way to go. for everything else and especially if it's for indoor use I'd go with the Charge 5 (or even 4 or 3)

Here is the solution for the lack of clarity and refine sound: 80hz: +4 (almost +5) 150hz: -1 (just above -2) 300hz: +2 (in the middle of +2) 600hz: +2 (almost +3) 1.2khz: +2 (just above 300hz) 2.5khz: +0 (almost -1) 5khz: +3 (just above +2) 9khz: +2 (just above +1) 13khz: +3 (almost +4) It is a custom EQ made by a french youtuber called Thibaut. I think charge 5 outputs a pretty punchy bass while motion boom with extra bass disabled outputs a "smooth" bass below 60 hz

For the size to output ratio the JBL is obviously ahead! The JBL is compact yet produces almost eaual sound quality to the Larger Soundcore

@@guy7626 have you heard in person the jbl ? Highs and treble are more clear under higher volumes. Yes it's louder and has more bass. If like heavy bass go and loud. Go for it. I ain't stopping you.

@@andrewbarnett2761 I have…. I purchased a Charge 5 and compared the two. To me the Charge 5 was missing the lower bass and has pretty tinny highs. I own pretty much every JBL speaker (original Xtreme, Charge 2,3, and 4, Flip 4 and 5, and a Partybox 100) and really like them. It’s just when comparing to the Motion Boom, the Charge 5 cannot compete. It cannot get to the lower bass of the Boom and when you use the Soundcore app and add upper end sound, it is way better. JMO

@@guy7626 well different strokes for different folks, I like the bass but maybe I just need to play around with the eq settings to get what your experiencing. As I due like the highs to the edm music I listen too.
