Just got the Clip4 and already had the Clip3. Only 2 things better with the Clip4. 1) and probably most important, the sound is better and a little louder too. 2) the clip can open slightly more, but still both are pretty limited. Things that I think got worse with the Clip4 1) no rubber backing/protection on the inside of the clip like the Clip3 has 2) the rubber on the bottom that it lays on is not close to being as slip resistant as the rubber on the bottom on the Clip3 3) overall doesn't feel as beefy/sturdy as the Clip3 4) with the new shape, it would have been nice if they made it be able to stand up when you set it down.

And I have to agree it's ridiculous how they bump the price up but subtracted features especially stereo pairing and a microphone for what otherwise would have been the ultimate small speaker, Heck everything that's not a party box needs a price drop asap!

All the party boxes are right where they need to be , the boombox 2 needs to be at 450, or even 420. And the Xtreme 3 damn sure should have started at 280 not even the former 300$, especially when they have the nerve to offer such pricey warranty options, they had better be using better batteries!

I also got a great deal on my clip 3 and I am impressed with the upgrades done to the clip 4 however my clip 3 does what I need from it I have flip5 & charge 4 so if I want to get louder I can. I also was able to get UE boom as well as the wonder boom1. I went with JBL because of the price of the UE products. Check out UE vs JBL.

I use 1 clip 3 with my laptop on the go and a boombox when I'm at home. It is annoying when you have a whole lot of tiny speakers hanging around the house. I'm going to get rid of the boombox and buy a jbl partybox 310. Then I'll have all I need.

It’s a big improvement, I wonder how it stacks up to the GO3 or even the FLIP4. About the AUX, I don’t really mind the AUX on smaller speakers, but not having it on the CHARGE5 is pretty disappointing, if that doesn’t have a USB-C signal in, then it’s gonna be a tough sell for me. Also TBH IDK why they took away the clip’s daisy chain (the CLIP2 was the only one to have it.

After I purchased two of xb12s I relised how much better is to have two paired speakers, even small ones like xb12. In stereomode it goes like a beast, so I would be missing that feature... but clip 4 would be for people who travel a lot and on the hike you dont really need two speakers, one is okay... plus might be for workers to have it on the pants, there also no need for pairing mode...but missing mic and aux, that would be the reason to change the brand here, despite the sound improvement...

I just received my JBL CLIP4 today from Amazon. I paid $59.99 for it and I love it. I got it in the blue color so it looks as good as it sounds. Thanks for posting this comparison video. In my opinion the CLIP4 sounds way better than the CLIP3.

Huge difference in bass. That clip 4 is just on another level. Clip 3 was a speaker with very clear sound but absolutely low bass, but then the clip 4 brought all the bass that was missing and boom, made a great sounding speaker from jbl, great even for bass head to some extent. Bass heads would seriously hate the clip 3.

Despite all of the reviews I've seen on this speaker, all of them failed to mention that JBL removed the battery level display on the phone from the CLIP 4 also, in addition to the mic. The Clip series always had this option. Until now they did not include it in the GO series, but it looks like for a few cents less in manufacturing, now I will not be able to see the battery level.

JBL clip speakers not having the pairing option is what stopped me from buying it . I emailed them and they flat out said they won't do it . Sony's small boom speaker pairs and they sound great . JBL needs to get with the program. They're limiting sales without having that feature. Most people don't want to spend over 100 dollars on speakers so it makes a lot of sense to give your base product pairing capability

I have both the JBL CLIP3 and the JBL CLIP4 in the blue color and I love them. The JBL CLIP4 definitely sounds better. It's louder and has more base. The JBL CLIP3 has an excellent speaker phone built in which the JBL CLIP4 does not. They are both great portable Bluetooth speakers.

I just purchased a JBL Charge 5 for work at my desk and work station (which is a beast) but I may get the Clip 4 for when I'm doing a lot of moving around in the shop and can't be in one spot. Gotta stay in the ecosystem:) I just wish the Clip 4 had party boost so I don't have to reconnect between the two.

No headphone jack is a deal-breaker for me. I use my phone as an FM radio sometimes and the aux cable is required because the aux functions as the antenna. I typicslly use bluetooth but the idea of a device designed for music not having an aux is really disappointing, as wired connection is still superior to bluetooth in terms of sound quality.

I had clip 3 and managed to loose it somehow!!!! crazy. So I bought jbl clip 4 and i think battery lasts longer on clip 3 and sound sounds better on clip 3 on a maximum volume, I have a feeling clip 3 was playing music louder. I usually MTB and rollerskate with clip being attached to my backpack with maximum volume music. And with clip 3 it felt like it lasted longer. Where clip 4 maybe dont turn off automatically or use battery a lot still when not playing music? Havent figure out it yet, but feels like battery dont last as long. Love the design and overall is good. I wouldn't say there is a HUGE difference in them, all AUX etc whatever i dont need, as using bluetooth only anyway.

thank you for the review! what is a good affordable speaker like clip 3 only with pairing? I've had clip 3 older version until the cord got broken, the new version has a jack vs in-build cord. I used it mainly for home and teaching tango classes. it worked ok. a year bought the new version yet the sound was glitching, e.g. it would stop the music when I adjusted the volume up, which was annoying and of course would not work for me (I returned it to an amazon seller but they did not reimburse the shipping as promised (wish I just kept it for home use, as moneywise - got it on sale - it did not make sense). now looking for another one yet I think not having pairing is a must to have.

How does this testing work if its even valid. I just got the old 3 from Ross. Great deal at 32 bucks! So im playing this guys demo. The comparison between the 3 and the 4 is night and day. The 3 is missing notes and whole instruments are practically muted out! Here’s my question. I played this demo on the 3. When he played the 3 it sounded like crap. When he kept switching back to the 4 (even coming out of my “3” speaker, it sounds incredible! What does it say that a test that he had a crappy recording for the three but not the floor? Somebody explain it to me please?

I just got the Clip4 today. When I go to the highest volume setting it cuts out, but comes back on at top volume. If that makes sense.. wonder if this is supposed to happen to notify you it's as loud as it will go or if it's a glitch and I should exchange it.

JBL started its life by building enormous horn-loaded systems. Some were the size of a small house. Many are still in use today, but you better have a significant sum in the bank. Today, about 70 years later, they're known for tiny, inexpensive speakers. Kinda ironic.

What sucks is that jbls current home speaker line up looks lackluster compared to 5 years ago when they had the es series, l890s. The only speakers that appeal to me are the studio 590s and the synthesis line

They’re known for their reference monitors also, not just small portables.

I am still rocking clip 2. No sennse in getting a new ersion. If I want better sound there are moxh better speakers out there.

My phone let me play 2 different speakers at the same time, I have never really tried that, but dose someone knows if the quality of the sound is any good when you pair them

I’m glad they are improving the sound quality but I’m not a fan of the new look of the new jbl speakers

i have clip 3 and buy clip 4 but for me clip 3 much better. the voice in jbl clip 4 is not clear it looks like the voice was in deepwater. aside from that the battery usage doesnt show in jbl clip 4. the good thing is jblclip 4 much durable than clip 3

The JBL clip 4 they lower the features just like the extreme 3 the pulse 4 and the flip 5 and also upcoming charge 5 well that's good because the sound quality of the speakers very high and good so the lower the features the higher the quality.
