THE WAVE GUIDE THAT YOU ARE NOT SURE WHAT FOR......is a bandpass 6TH configuration for the low woofer. There are 2 chambers ( the big one reacting with the 2 ports resonators and the little one ( created by the wave guide in front of the cone ). This configuration give a boost in SPL and limit a part of some distorsions. Generally, you can study the bandpass 6th principle also. It;s an old system but rare seen in the fullrange speakers. Usually , seen at very powerfull speakers systems for big venues.

Very interesting hearing the speaker without the wave guide. IMHO, the wave guide really helps in keeping the speaker natural sounding. It makes it especially useful as a vocal monitor on stage.

Thanks for the video, I bought a pair of Eon 612'ves refurbished at eBay about 2 years ago. One tweeter blew out on my third gig (I'm a casual Home DJ for home parties), at that time, the speaker was under JBL warranty. This weekend the same thing happened on the other speaker, my question is: Is this a common problem from these Models? I hardly ever use the EONS since I own several other speakers. I find it shocking that after only 8-10 gigs this problem persists. Any comments on this issue? Thanks.

Yeah it's what we got at 1 meter roughly. Dont get me wrong it was insane loud. Remember every 3 db is twice the intensity.
@LioSintra5 жыл бұрын
Don't forget that the db that all manufacturers tell are very difficult to get. They may reach those values with a very lenear music and with low base equalization on mixer. These models have 500w Rms and they are very loud. If you add a sub for gigs or weddings they are perfect. I have 2 eon12" and a db technologies15" sub and don't need more than this for weddings up to 200 guests.
@Norb235 жыл бұрын
@@LioSintra Thx,so i tested my little 6,5 monitors with a dB meter look like similar in @ 20w rms ~ 108,7dB! That's why I was interested. If you have an 500w amp powered by 400w @ 95dB sensivity speaker 10 feet - 111dB + more can do. 3 feet 121 , 3 feet - 20 watt 108dB... questionable that its true sensitivity is no less than 95dB 1w\m. When i have time to listening this JBL 612 would be curious.

Your model are very good and I like more the sound of Grey model (only have volume knob) instead of black model with eq buttons. But when you need high volume they loose quality. With this model if you use the app you can get the same quality in all volumes. I even made them clip and the sound keep same quality and much more louder than old jbl models. I think this is a kombat speaker model just like old g2 were. Other manufactory like Mackie can't make new kombat models like the old srm 450 v1 and V2. But Jbl and Yamaha still can.
