I just got mine today, completely agree. Across multiple genres, deep bass sounds more natural and rich. Punchy sounded off, like overly artificial in what it’s trying to do.

I think punchy is best for outdoors bc under 60 hrtz is hard to hear when ur like more than 3 feet away from the speaker and it boosts the upper bass, and i think deep is best for indoors bc it really boosts the 35-55 hrtz 👍🤣🤤

Idk why JBL chose to make the names so similar, it makes it extremely hard to find & people keep getting confused thinking that the Essential comes with 2 mics. I got lucky & purchased my Encore during Black Friday last year for $180. Ever since then, a bunch of my friends have also been wanting one, but they keep mistaking it for the Essential that doesn't come with mics. Great product, but poor job of naming & marketing from JBL's end.

These, along with many JBL speakers out there are great. I owe a pair of Partybox 300 1st gen ($740 for the pair when they released in 2019, awesome bargain). Only Downside is none of these series BT speakers come with 1/4", XLR speaker in/out (jump) connections. Only a simple 1/8"Aux, this kills the purpose for DJ use or to used them as alternative Monitor speakers. Other that, these are almost perfect.
