After testing them both, I have to say that Charge 3 sounded better, especially when they were both set to 100%. Pulse sounds ALMOST as good, but what you're really paying extra for is the lights, not sound quality. Personally, I prefer to get just a speaker without lights, and add lights later. The only thing that really stands out is 360 degree sound, which I fixed by simply putting the charge 3 against a wall or in a corner.

Lol I can't bring myself to believe that the pulse 3 has more bass than the charge. They have the same frequency response and same wattage with the charge having bigger bass radiators. There's no distortion to the charge unless you inflict damage yourself. You kinda knocked on the charge a little more than it deserved. It's still the best speaker for 150 in my opinion.

I regret buying the Pulse 3 so early in the release of the product due to paying the full retail price. Today (Memorial Day 2018) I bought a 2nd Pulse 3 on sale at Best Buy for $129.99 which is the lowest price I have ever seen for this item. It averaged my price for both down to more acceptable levels. I finally bought a Charge 3 on the last Black Friday sale for $89.99. I did not update the Charge 3 for JBL Connect+ so it would still pair to my Xtreme (which cannot be updated to Connect+). Both speakers sound great! The Pulse 3 when paired to the same model can sync the light show if physically shaken. They both have their uses. I like the Charge 3 for loudness and pairing to older JBL models. I like the crisp, clear 360 degree sound of the Pulse 3. Bottom line is I believe you cannot go wrong with either model. IMO you can go wrong with the price you pay for it. Patience seems to pay off with the way these toys are priced. There's full price to have it now. The sale price if you wait. Then there are amazing prices if you hold out until it becomes obvious they want to drive sales in a big way.

My Pulse 3 arrived 5 days ago. It is even more awesome than I was expecting. I ordered it right after watching your video for the first time. The light show is bright and really cool in a room with the lights out. Sound quality IMO has better high frequency definition than the Charge 3 and I agree with you about the Flip 4 as I have one too and it pairs well with the Pulse 3. Love the 360 degree sound. I would be tempted to get a Charge once updated but the Pulse 3 would still be my go-to speaker.

Fyi the charge mesh gets scratched too. End of the day you gotta look after things if you want them to keep the original finish, just like a car or whatever. I got both these and they are great! Pulse looks soo cool pulsating lights!! Top audio too. Puy 2 pulses up front with an extreme at the back and enjoy!

As far as getting Connect+ is concerned, you can update the firmware on Charge 3 through the app. It enhances the sound quality as well. Very happy with it. Also, come on, you can't compare it to Flip 4. Even though sound clarity is better (good if you listen to recordings or watch videos with it connected), there is no comparison wrt to bass and volume.

Jbl updated the charge 3 model with better components. Serial number starting from TL is newer version. Also firmware update made Charge 3 upgrade to Connect+. And the firmware came around March-April 2018 improved the sound. Quality quite a bit and with newer hardware, it rocks. My brother have Pulse 3 and he likes my Charge 3. He didn't know i had charge 3 else. He would have got that after listening..

ok let’s be real here the lights on the pulse will be cool for like 10 minutes and then you will realize why would I put this on if it wastes battery. Charge 3 is better sound and can charge your device and has more battery, it’s a no brainer.

I don't really aggree on the part where you said pulse 3 has deeper/better bass. Yes, it does have a wider sound stage but not a deeper bass. And no, charge 3 does not distort at loud volumes. I have compared these 2 speakers personally before I bought my charge 3. Charge 3 sounds WAY better and it's definitety a bang for a buck because of 1. powerbank feat. 2. waterproof and 3. quality and durability.

In my opinion, the charge 3(with the first jbl connect+ update firmware, because before the jbl connect+ the charge 3 is so muddy) sounds better than the flip 4 and the pulse 3 because I find the low frequency bass extension of the charge 3 better sounding than the mid-upper bass of what the pulse 3 produce; and I am not a fan of the ear-piercing treble boost of the flip 4 but it’s just my opinion lol

I sold the charge 3 yesterday, i test the pulse 3 it very good, sound is too deep. But i cant understand it distort when play at 70% 80% volume up, i test 7 songs but 4 songs distorted . In the app you will have 2 options. Party mode pr stereo mode. On party mode both speakers will work normally. On stereo mode you will choose what speaker will play L or R
