Hi, I'm Dj Calvin from Texas. I bought the JBL SRX 815p,835p,and the 828p dual. I tried the 818p and sent them back. The price difference between the 818p and the 828p isn't that much. It's a huge difference in how much bass you will get out of the 828p than the 818p. Get the 828p. Trust me they are with it, and you won't feel like like you wasted your money on the 818p.

Dual 18's yet? Wow Rick is going hard. My suggestion for tripods is the FRANKENSTANDS. They are amazing. Just make sure you turn the box away from yourself when you open the box. Mine released during shipping and almost took my chin off when I cut the packing tape. Had mine for about a year now & they work flawless. Speakers float up on their own. Worth every penny.

These weigh 57 pound each which is much heavier than other tops. They also cost $2k per pair which is more than other tops. I would buy these if I had plenty of gigs in which I am not using a sub. These will certainly do well at weddings and work great as tops for a high school event. For weddings I prefer two small 15 inch subs and two 10 inch tops. I play House and other bass heavy music so I almost always need a sub or two or four. The freq response for these is 54hz to 20khz. It can't do the 40hz stuff like a sub can.
@DJRickWeb6 жыл бұрын
You might actually got the specs on the 12inch the 815p I got weight 63lb lol. Also the 15 inch goes to 36hz at -10db and 44hz at -3db. They also map price at $1399. But I agree with your application. If fits my needs but house and deeper bass music you need a dedicated sub

DJ Rick, I have a question for you bro. I recently bought one of these. Really impressed, best speaker I've ever owned. My question is, when these hit limiter, is there something protecting it from burning the speaker ? Because they sound really clean even when hitting limit with the high pass filter on.
@DJRickWeb Жыл бұрын
They are fine. You just really dont want the limit light to be on solid. Needs a break every once and a while. But in general as long as you are feeding it a clean un distorted signal it is hard to burn them up

Great videos, always try to watch them when i can. Keep up the great work. Got a question. Currently I have a paire of the JBL EON 515XT powered speakers and im looking at getting either the PRX 815s or SRX 815s. What is the difference between the two models? Other than one having an onboard screen and network outlet and the other doesnt not quite sure which to get. I guess im looking at the PRX because of the price and lesser weight. Your thoughts? Thanks

The srx out performs the prx. But honestly for most people it is way overkill. Unless you really need output to push 300 people or more prx is better. Plus its smaller and lighter.

You cannot run what can be considered a pro system without proper speaker management. So yes, a Driverack or other system is a must.
@AB-80X6 жыл бұрын
DJ Saenz If people pay you to set up and spin, you need to educate yourself. Any system that is not properly crossed and time aligned, will sound like utter shit. And the fact that you even state that your system sounds good, just with your Pioneer mixer, makes it painfully clear how much you need to learn, and perhaps also how much you need to train your ears. The Pioneer DJ mixers have unfortunately become somewhat of a standard, but it is also well known that they hurt any system a great deal as the sound quality they put out, is truly horrid. Try a Formula mixer and hear how big the difference is. At least Pioneer actually make a pretty decent pro CD player with their top range sources.

+James Corona I run out of my sz at 0db input strength, the dbx rack is set at -1 db on the crossover and I have a low pass at 40 hz. I also have a limiter set at -3db threshold with a 6 on the overeasy. The srx top is set to 0db And it never hits limit or if it does it is only for a second. Normally the -1db on the crossover is when running at max volume. Typically for a wedding I set it at -10 to -6db. When I run subs with these tops I leave the driverack the same and change the speaker internal programming to 100 hz sub mode. And I crack the speaker up to +5.5db

Can I ask how you are able to EQ from your tablet? Seems like a great idea to be able to do. I have done a lot of DJ'ing in the past with my old man, but I have moved away from home for about 6 years and would like to start up my own company again as a side business. In the past I always had (4) passive JBL MRX515's with a crown xti6000, (2) SRX718 with a crown xti4000, and (1) SRX728 with a crown xti4000. I never used a drive-rack, nor any special mixer or DJ console. I would like to get into the Active speakers. I like the idea of (2) SRX815's with (1) SRX828 for about 200-300 kids for school dances only. What kind of processor/EQ would i go with? Also, how do I get power to each speaker properly? Its hard to find 240 at a school gym, and in the past i just ran each amp to its own outlet that was on separate breakers. Would i do the same with these active speakers? Sorry for the long comment. Hope it all made sense at least.

Here's my written review I've posted a couple of places: About a year ago, I purchased four SRX815p self powered/processed JBL speakers followed by a purchase of four of the SRX812p. My primary use is for floor monitors, but I do use them as mains for smaller events. After getting to know them, here’s what I have to say. Pros: The speakers get loud. Key to this is that JBL uses a larger 1.5” exit high frequency compression driver with 3” diaphragm behind it relative to most if not all other speakers in this price range. It’s not the kind of output you would get from a full 2” exit driver with 4” diaphragm behind it which would raise the cost of the speaker substantially. But the output is noticeably better than any of the boxes I’ve used in this range with a 1” exit driver with a 2” or smaller diaphragm behind it. The trend seems to be going towards smaller than a 2” diaphragms. Combined with a high performance woofer and hefty amp/processor combo, the box gets loud and sounds good. So far the bands that have used them as monitors have had no complaints and the energy can cause them to wince if they’re cranked up from the grunt of the horn. They have a lot of EQ filters available if you use the built-in networking to control them with Audio Architect, or HiQnet, 20 filters to be exact. On the cons side: the first thing I noticed is how flimsy the grills are. two of the 8 boxes I purchased had dented grills in shipping without any visible damage to the box. The shipping boxes aren’t very thick or well supported, so just something bumping into the middle of the box was enough to bend the grills. They really, really need to be thicker and won’t handle musicians pressing the their shoes on them like they do sometimes. The next area of concern is the vunerability of the controls on the amp module. The encoder knob isn’t recessed and is definitely prone to getting damaged. I’m going to figure out a way to put some type of cover plate over the control section to add some protection. This should have been better thought out in the design stage. Adding even moderate protection wouldn’t have increased cost much. Another thing I’ve noticed on several of these speakers is the lack of damping of the amp module components. A mechanical buzz/rattle when you’re behind the cabinet can be heard when they’re running at high levels. This is certainly due to inadequate damping or securing of components or parts in the amp section. It’s pretty annoying when you hit a frequency where these components vibrate and the buzz starts. You don’t really hear it out front, but it’s not something you would expect to hear standing behind a $1000+ speaker. Lastly, the software control via ethernet gives you a lot of filters to work with. But what’s lacking is a user definable high pass filter. As far as I can tell, there are only high and low shelving filters. I want to be able to set my own custom high pass as far as slope and frequency. But I can’t do that. I would gladly trade half of those 20 filters for a user definable high pass. Maybe JBL can do that in a future firmware update. I mean really, who needs 20 parametric filters on a self powered box that’s already voiced? Seems a bit overkill. Most people designing systems and installations expect to be able to control the high pass. I've also flown these from time to time with the M10 rigging points. The rigging points are ok, but due to the monitor angle and placement of the amp module, the point you would use for 'pull back' when flying them horn up is off center and can cause the box to twist a bit which is annoying. It would have been nice to have a properly centered pull back point. To conclude, the SRX815p/812p are a good ‘bang for the buck’ speaker. Lots of features for the price. They are lacking in some robustness though that seems like it could be addressed even in this price range. They’re not inexpensive, thought they’re not top shelf cost either. Stronger grills, protection for controls, lack of rattles, and fully adjustable high pass filter would make it a truly killer box.

I would really watch buyin stuff at guitar center, especially used. They do list any issues on the tag but they dont know how much use they have or how hard. I always wait and save so i can buy new, especially again, if they are your only speakers and you have no back ups you dont wanna take a chance on someones sloppy seconds. Sorry just my opinion

I bought the jbl prx 800 15w and everything pretty good but the question is that my fan doesn't work you know how to fix the problem.
@DJRickWeb6 жыл бұрын
If your fan isn't turning on at all contact who you bought it from or JBL directly. That would be a defect.

Looking at PRX 815 vs SRX815, besides the price difference what should i get. They look the same

+ovidiu babu they look the same? Srx is heaver more powerful and louder.
@cameronproaudio6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, no contest. The SRX boxes use a larger format compression driver and better woofers. They're a much higher output box.
