If your JBL Xtreme only turns on whilst plugged in like mines did, dont panic, all you have to do is plug it in so it turns on, and hold the JBL CONNECT button beside the power button, and volume up, until the fifth light flashes red, then unplug the speaker and press the power button, I thought the battery was just finished but it wasnt, very happy

The volume down three times is irrelevant if the phone and speaker are synced, which mine are and most phones do nowadays. He’s just setting the speaker at the gain where it’s not going to push too hard and distort. With the volume synced, the gain stages are ideal 👍 Thanks for the “secret mode” bass cut info though!

The combo bluetooth + vol up makes my flip Essential do a forced reset, it keeps off about a minute then it does a power cycle sounds, then press power button once

reset the xreme 2 by holding down the 'connect' and 'up' buttons until it powers off. my speaker was unresponsive after being in my suitcase. I suspect it had a button held down or something in transit. Nothing would work but it *would* power up when plugged in and power down when unplugged. like "the lights were on but nobody was home". Good Joe's suggestion below worked like a charm. Tech support didn't even know so I sent my result to them too. I am stoked, thanks @goodJoe

salvou minha vida... a minha Xtreme estava chiando muito no vol maximo, pensei que estava com os subs estragados... nao sabia que ela tinha esses nivels de equalização própria... agora ja voltei para o nivel intermediário e voltou a ficar ótima como era antes, graves e agudos equilibrados.... antes estava com ganho de grave maior isso no vol maximo dava uma chiadeira so....

lol found this about 6 years late but sure. Didn't know that it has a bass cut setting. Also CONNECT button and volume up will disable internal battery. (U will need to connect cable power afterwards) to turn the internal battery back on.

André Mangseth It is called low frequency mode and works on different frequencies, normally highlights the lows in the other way the high ones

Ich habe ein Problem mit meiner jbl extreme...: Wenn ich mich mit der Box verbinde und auf Lautstärke 10/10 mache geht das auch. Wenn ich dann ein anderes handy mit der XTreme verbinde kann es auch auf Stufe 10 abspielen. Wenn ich jedoch auf Stufe 3 zB Musik abspiele und DANN ein Gerät verbinde kann es nur zwischen 0-3 die Lautstärke ändern. Hat jemand eine idee? Ein reset ist nicht möglich.

L attivazione della mod semplicemente disabilita il limitatore della cassa,1posso dirti che con la mod attivata ti accorgi di uno step di volume soltanto a corte distanze oppure in un luogo chiuso,2 per esperienza non ti consiglio di tenerla attivata con il volume al massimo,perché io per tenerla sempre a volume massimo con la mod inserita tempo 15 giorni di utilizzo mi si é sfasciata la cassa e si sentiva puzza di bruciato e il volume massimo era diventato come quello del cellulare in pratica,cosí me ne sono dovuta prendere un altra senza possibilità di riparazione,quindi in pratica disabiliti qualcosa che evita che la cassa si bruci

Reset - Whatch out! - using the wrong button's can burst your xTreme !!!!!!! Yesterday,I burst my xTreme with a wrong combinaton ! As it says on JBL's website: for a reset, you have to press: Loudness + and Play at the same time for at least 3 seconds. The xTreme shut down automatically and is resettet. But when you chose the wrong combination - in my case, i used Loudness + and Connect! - the unit shut down after 3 seconds - but that's it ! Dead! Only, when i connect the charger, the 5 white LED's and the power button are lighting! I am whaiting for an answer form JBL......

OK - i didn't watch the complete video, because it's in alanguage, i don't understand. All over all: i'll never buy a JBL product again. NO manual, only a useless "Quick Start GUide" Everything, you'll find in the FAQ's on JBL's homepage should have been integrated in a regular / really manual etc. etc. etc. I'll sent it back for repair - but never a JBL again.....

Hola amigo soy de argentina quisiera una ayuda tengo un Jbl Xtreme lo compre hace unos meses ahora me pasa la batería esta cargada le pongo la música dentro de unos 40 minutos se apaga solo. Roger Vargas A veces el jbl tiene problemas con la batería, el mío comenzó después de un año sin ir, el jbl siempre tiene 2 años de garantía, llamé al soporte jbl en mi país, busqué el número en google y me mostraron un centro de ayuda que podría dirigirle, vaya con el recibo (incluso una copia está bien) y lo arreglan de forma gratuita, pero lleva alrededor de un mes, también depende del tipo de problema😉

CoCo M Probably a factory or software problem, I would recommend contacting the Jbl service center, for what I know are few people to have this problem

Nik thanks for your reply. It's really annoying because this was a replacement that I got from my warranty. They couldn't fix my charge 2 so sent me a Charge 3.
