Sony Alpha Camera Firmware 2.0 is a Big Update & Total Mess

I had an issue with my a1 when I updated to version 1.4 and I was told that my communications disappeared so I called and Sony told me it may be my motherboard was damaged but it was not true ! I disabled my battery out of camera for one month and WiFi came back thats why I did not update yet my A1 . Sony customer service has to improve and they do not provide a warranty in case they dammage your camera through firmware update, regardless they should put more effort in after sale like apple does its their responsability and they should not ignore proffessional customers

My a7Siii has the Bluetooth error now. I did a million things, reset the whole camera multiple times etc, nope. Hope they fix it QUICK!

There is nothing in this update for people who use the a1 for still photography.

Apparently you’ve never used an FTP or the Creator’s App. There’s a huge difference between the former consumer app they once had. However, if you’re looking for a new camera body via firmware app it’s just not going to happen.

Monumental? With R5 I had 1 as in one freeze in a year. Now 2 in 30 minutes. And extra or bettter functions? None I noticed. Something with ergonomics? Non confusing AF strategies? Better memory management for Tough cards? Not happy.

On 2.02 When viewing images in playback mode there is a icon overlay that is virtually telling you if you press the playback button again while you're in that mode you can go back to shooting. Um... It's a professional camera, why does one need an distracting icon to tell them that they can go back to shooting by pressing a playback button when one can just press the shutter button. Is there any way to get rid of that distracting icon? Sometimes it covers up one of my subjects eyes. And it really kills the vibe when showing clients photos you have taken.

I really don’t understand then why do we have Animal eye after in video in FX30? FX30 doesn’t have ai chip.

So so so disappointed with Sony A1 fw without precapture and no video bird eye auto focus for flag ship or the most expensive full frame camera with plenty of horsepower. Sony infrequently updates fw I have no hope Sony will provide !!

My Sony A1 won't connect to Bluetooth or WiFi after the update, so I can't connect to the Creators App

I don't know if this will help you, but I had the exact same problem with my A7SIII after firmware 3.0. Here is what I did, and I hope it works for you. I pulled my battery out of camera, waited 5-10 mins, and put it back in. I went into the menu and reset my camera back to the factory condition, and after that, my Bluetooth came back along with my WI-FI, and now I can connect to the Creators app. This doesn't happen with every camera because my business partners A7SIII didn't have this happen, and his Bluetooth was fine after 3.0 update. I hope it works for you, but at last no guarantees as I didnt have an a1 to try, but I had that horrible error message and my stomach dropped. Bluetooth worked fine before the update, and I need it to work with the Lidar on my Ronin Rs3 pro, so I was willing to give it a try. I discovered this by playing around, trial and error, and thinking like a computer guy, told myself I had nothing to loose, well it worked.

Mine works perfectly. Downloaded the file done. Tested all my usual preferences and liked the slicker feel with AF etc. This is a v2 so for me its a key platform to roll out a whole lot of new or improved features which will come 💪📷

Good evening , I updated my Sony A1 to firmware 2.0 and it gave me a lot of problems. I just updated to the new version 2.1 and the problems are still the same. Do you have a solution? One of the main ones is that I don't have a connection to the mobile and I can't use anything from creators. Thank you.

I can't see a single thing here for power users for neither Still nor Cine photography. What a waste of time and a convoluted mess of an installation process. Maybe the Sony devs should go and get lessons from any of the other Companies as there are pages of installation instructions without a link for the download 2 weeks after the announcement 😂
