I'm a home gardener - no decent allotments near me and a 5 year waiting list for the few that exist. So I make do with the little space I have at home. When the season is in full swing I can be out in the garden daily (unless it's chucking it down) and pop out whenever I have a bit of time, so I like that it's convenient. I just wish I had more space. Thank you for the late potter around your plot. Enjoy your week off. xx

Hi JB, I go to my plot every Tuesday & Saturday but, when the nights are lighter, I tend to go more to water only. It works for me as I plan the jobs fir a Tuesday I need to do and get them done. Saturday, I'm with my hubby as we have a plot each measuring 120ft long & 13ft wide. We tend to get jobs done in the morning and chill for lunch in the afternoon. My hubby goes on a Thursday to his plot. We do help each other with watering through the Summer months. It works for us. Your tomatoes will arrive soon. Lovely staging. Good news on getting a bargain for your greenhouse glass! Great video update. I have purchased the watering tray from grownlocal for my hubby, and I am just waiting for them to arrive. I'm definitely a weekend gardener as my job is too hectic to garden in the week too. You've made me want to book a week off in April to play in the garden

In the winter I’m a weekend warrior as, though well past retirement, still beavering away for the NHS. And isn’t it frustrating when you’re staring at a computer all day and the weather is reasonable outside then it chucks it down with rain at the weekend 😢 Got Easter week off on holiday and an awful lot of prepping work to do on the plot - soooo looking forward to it 😊

The compost being dig up is probably birds looking for grubs etc. I hope you remembered to close the greenhouse door, and it possibly could do with a spray of WD40/oiling to loosen it up a bit. The gravel around the egdes of the paving slabs in the refurbished greenhouse just adds that refining touch. Had to laugh at the thumbnail shot, at first glance it looked like that you were waring a dinner kacket and black bow tie. I needed a second glance 😁 I hope you had a good chill out in the pub with one of two beers 🍻.

Ps I’m a weekend warrior most of the time and try to get down on a Wednesday which is my day off in the week. I work (8-6 weekdays except Weds) so struggle to get in the evenings afterwork. My day off Tends to get clogged up with chores and errands atm unfortunately but that has to stop now…too much to sowing and growing do now 😊x 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱

I’ve seen so many posts about cabbages running to seed, mine included! Weird. Greenhouse looks great with the extra shingle to tidy it up. I may have been naughty and bought some extra staging. 😅 Hope you had a lovely evening at the pub. Well deserved after a busy week at work. I’m a daily warrior but then my plot is at home, which is an added perk.. although I suspect my plants are sick of seeing me checking on them every couple of hours 😂

I have red cabbage and Savoy outside, both bolted 😢. I used them as mixed greens for dinner 😋

I was thinking about sowing my Toms tomorrow. Germinate them indoors and then move some into the greenhouse. My plot is about 21/2 miles from home but I get a lot of work nearby so can pop in pretty much every day during the summer. Once or twice a week over winter just to pick stuff.

I retired from the NhS… went back part time … who was I kidding! Still full time and still a weekend allotmentier 🤷🏼‍♀️

I don't have an allotment, but in the cooler months with shorter days, weekends are the only available time to get into the garden. I'm not much for gardening by torchlight unless it's for harvesting.

Nice to see the plot at sunset. Interesting to see other plots too. I am like you with seeds almost everyday checking what has germinated. My tomatoes are up but I have got them indoors on a heated propagator although now turned that off as they have started growing. I have some micro tomatoes though that I sowed in January now moved to the greenhouse looking strong and coping with the cooler temps out there. Looking forward to seeing what you get up to on your week off. Will you plant any potatoes? I saw them chitting away in the corner of one shot. Looking good.

Nice to see you enjoying a trip to Lottie this n way to some leisure at the pub JB. However I hope you shut the greenhouse door behind you. 😊😊I think possibly a bit of bubble wrap might get benefit those tomatoes chuck they may need a little more heat x

Ha this was pretty much shot in real time! When I arrived it was already so close to dark but this was a perfect example of how camera ISO being bumped up can make it seem brighter than it is... Until it suddenly can't any more! And then it just looks pitch black.

Don't you just love seeing the growth after a day or so off? I sown Reisetomate tomato the same day you did these, mine are up but I've them on a propagator I sown others today in no propagator..

I think you are being optimistic to think your tomatoes would have germinated yet in a cold greenhouse (even if there is some sun during the day). It should take at least 14 days and 28 days for the peppers. That's why most people start there tom seeds at home.
