JBR 51R Battery Box for the Mazdaspeed 3

Now that spring weather is on the way, I am able to get back into the garage and start working on projects again! My battery died over the winter and I needed a replacement, so I decided to swap it out for a smaller group 51R battery and a battery box from James Barone Racing. Now fitting a larger intake will be easier!

I have a love/hate with JBR; they make great quality products but the R&D isn't quite there. Every single thing I've gotten from them for multiple Mazda platforms results in me having to go to to a hardware store for nuts/bolts or I have to jankily fit things together. I have the JBR small battery box to make room for a large intake on my MS3 with a GT30 big turbo. For me on this battery box it was the underside bolts, they can be tricky. JBR is on the same playing field as Corksport for me; I'd rather not get them unless I have to.

Yeah for the Speed platform sometimes it can be hit or miss with vendors. Some stuff works great, some stuff is still causing me headaches.

Perfect timing! I pulled my K04 the other day to replace it with a BNR S4 and I'm moving to a 3" intake as well. I was thinking about grabbing a JBR battery box and was on the fence. You've convinced me, is there a link I can use to get you a kickback? PS: Your Wheelwell link doesn't seem to be working. :(

Yep I still have it! It has been my daily while the Miata project is being worked on. There are some updates I want to make to it, but my spare time has been limited because of my job, hopefully the workload eases up and I can get back to working on my projects.

Eventually. The plans I had for the Speed has changed and a turbo swap is a part of that.

I have an optima yellow top d35 size battery. I really want to replace the battery box with an ecu relocation box

The regular sized battery is too large and won't fit. You won't be able to secure it down. I tried while recording this and it's no bueno. You have to use a 51 group battery.
