Ayooo FAM! We know this is a stressful time of the year. Midterms, life decisions, pressures from society, family, and from within. We had the chance to reflect on these same struggles and thoughts we had from 10 years back. Much love to you all grinding. Remember to take a second and breathe. You're doing great.
Special shoutout to Brandeis Korean Students Association for hosting an incredible KoreaNite 2021 and for giving us the opportunity to speak.

Don’t think about it too much, just do what makes you happy. People have a bad habit about questioning our decisions that we make in life, some who support us and some who criticize us. So, to everyone reading this, know that it’s ok to not give them an explanation. You did this because you wanted to or because you like it. Period. Whatever you decide to do, make sure it makes you happy! Congratulations to those who are graduating!!!

I'm a sophomore in college for mechanical engineering and you guys have been one of my favorite content creators so far. I've been so nervous about every decision I'm making because of how it might affect me in the long run in my late 20's. I haven't found that many genuine channels that's don't over glorify college and the aftermath of it. You guys keep it real. Truly inspiring and I can't wait to see the channel grow even more. I feel like I have my own personal mentors. (:

Sis, my brotha is a mechanical engineer and the first step he took at that time after graduated was to become a sales engineer at ME company or a consulting company in the engineering field, after that some experience will definitely shape you into a new character that will determine your next step, oh ya btw his major is HVAC, and dont worry too much, and my advice is to learn a lot of other things and don't be afraid to leave the engineering zone if you don't find new challenges in that world, because the rest of the world is still waiting and there are still many opportunities that can be developed in the future, and don't be afraid to try new things outside of mechanical engineering, because it will be easier for an engineer to understand other things if they want to learn, trust me, u guys are clever and ur IQ is already above average 😁😊

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who hasn't figure out what I really want or like in the long run. A lot of time we spend worrying about meeting other people's expectations and stressing ourselves out. super relatable. it takes a toll on you when you have all these opinions flying at you from different people. Like I know they have good intentions and majority of what they’re saying are just “suggestions” but after having those suggestions be suggested your whole life, they start to feel much more than that. it takes a lot for a person to say what they want to do and actually do it. props to you guys for talking about this stuff and being real raw and honest about it.

This is so relatable. I’m currently a sophomore studying biology on a pre-dental track, and honestly it’s stressful. My parents put a lot of pressure on me to finish college and go to dental school. I also pressure myself to be that “top student” and “perfect daughter” kind of image. Sometimes, it feels like I’m doubting myself and every decision I make, when I know I can do it. So, I’m really thankful for all the encouraging advice. It’s always a great excuse for me to take a few minutes of my day to watch your videos and breathe. Keep up the good work guys!

Great video reflecting on your career paths thus far! I can certainly relate on many levels with the immense amount of pressure associated with "having your life figured out". Luckily, I had discovered my passion early on in my undergrad years and was able to stay focused throughout. Now, looking back after completing my Bachelors in Biochemistry, Doctorate in Pharmacy and being close to the end of my PGY1 Pharmacy Residency year at the age of 26 is so unreal! My advice to everyone watching this video is that growing as an individual and accomplishing your goals shouldn’t be a race. Never compare yourself to others and know that you are on your own life journey. This video by the JBros should help inspire you all to start working on yourself and life goals now if you haven’t done so already and to never give up despite the obstacles and failures you encounter.

I was never a "good" student, and it was only upon realising my interest that I found out that I was studying things that were not really for me. I understand now that even the subjects that never made sense are simple to comprehend in the context of my interest. And now after 23 years of breathing I think I know what direction I want to take. I felt left out of life for a while not knowing what I want, but seeing the both of you being admirable adults makes me curious to know how I will be, so, thank you.

I was so lost when I first started college. With all the pressure and expectations it made me feel like I had to decide my career on my first day of classes. I am finishing up prerequisites at a community college right now, I decided to go to a CC first because I knew I wanted to do something medical but wasn’t so sure what. I started looking into nursing, dental hygiene, physician assistant, but nothing stuck out to me. When I was introduced into pharmacy which I didn’t even think about because I think it is looked down upon, when I researched it and started working in a pharmacy I never looked back. School was hard for me when I was younger, I didn’t learn as fast and I felt like I was going to fail at everything in life but now it is all coming together slowly. I am going to be attending one of the pharmacy schools in the nation and it is still unreal. I just want to thank both of you guys for making this channel because it’s unlike other youtubers I watch, you two are honest about hardships in life that we encounter other people just try to cover it up. Again thank you!

College is stressful but if you isolate your self from the FOMO mindset...you will actually do great things. I realized that at the end of my 3rd year. My 4th year was the best. Grad school was hectic but did great. So my advice to current students is to focus less on outside activities and more on school work...you will thank me after graduation.
@twofiveexplus4804
@twofiveexplus4804 3 жыл бұрын
Gosh, sounds like we've enjoyed similar successes but I have different advice. I say seek balance; sometimes you need to give into the FOMO but also prioritize studying - you learn so much about your self as you seek this balance. What you discover about your self during this time will serve you later on. Your 20s should be about self discovery/awareness, building nurturing friendships and dusting yourself off and trying again as best as you can. Push yourself - take (safe and healthy) risks. Find someone/people who you feel safe with, who you can check-in with once in a while ; someone who is invested in your growth as a whole, unique person (career is a teeny weeny bit of what matters about you - I promise).

These sentiments are very relatable especially for someone who graduated uni at 19 and still a teenager. So much idealistic and unrealistic expectations from myself and others that I wanted to accomplish or achieve after graduation and felt like life was a race and made me feel I needed to be mature fast. It made me mentally, physically & emotionally exhausted. I’m glad someone told me that “You can always be an adult, but you can’t always be young so enjoy the moment” which made me eventually relax from the heavy pressure I’ve placed on myself and accepted the fact it’s not a race and we can pursue success without comparing so much of ourselves to others and that true success & happiness lies within. (Sounds cliche though 😂) I wish I saw this video when I was younger but I’m sure it is benefiting the now uni students who are going through uni life. Very real and encouraging video ☺️👏

However, after I graduated from university, I became so lost and confused about my future especially compared to my friends who were doing better than me. And it took me years to find out what I really wanted to do in life. At the end of the day, do what makes you happy even if you have to take different paths.

I really appreciate that you made this video. I'm nearly ending my 4th year of medicine and ther is still two years to go (diferent system in Czech republic) and sometimes it's really stressful (and because of pandemy even harder). I can relate to comparing myself to other students, because I see them as better in studying than myself, but for everyone potentially reading this, I think there is someone who is comparing himself or herself to you, because they see you as their role student. I got to know that comparing yourself to other can push you to do better but on the other hand it could demotivate you even more. Every person, student is unique and for those doubting themself...take your time to do everything your pace and don't let it get to you.

I went straight from undergrad to graduate school and the transition from college to adult life is so real. I'm working while doing coursework during my 2nd year and I feel like I'm still living within the student life bubble while being on the verge of obtaining work/life skills on the job, moving away from home and contemplating further education/exploring multiple career options. I'm so glad I came across your videos and especially this one because it makes me feel so much less alone in this transition. I can't get over how accurate the college skit was at the beginning xD I totally resonated with Jason on how everything you know when you're in college is 99.9% wrong lol, I felt like I started "living" in that period between graduating from undergrad and starting grad school because I was hit with such a harsh reality of what being an adult + existential crisis. Choosing a very practical career was a pressure I faced a lot from my parents all my life, but deciding to choose a path that makes me happy has ultimately saved me because I can fall back on genuine enthusiasm for what I do whenever I hit a bump on the road.

It's alright, I graduated high school last year and decided to go the community college route. It's been quite the year though, I ended up dropping out a few weeks into the semester and now I'm joining the Air Force. Just focus on learning more about yourself for now I guess and don't be scared to take risks! If I didn't drop out I would most likely still be miserable doing online classes and I don't think I would be the person I am today. You can learn so much about yourself in a year, good luck!

To all! Just take the first step, if you aren’t good at it or don’t enjoy it as much as you thought you would, don’t worry, you are not failing, you are simply coming closer to what you truly want, understanding who you are, what makes you happy. If you don’t take that first scary step, it will not be easy to achieve happiness....take your time, enjoy the journey, learn as much as you can. It took me a while to figure it out, and although nursing school isn’t always easy, I can honestly say I am in love with this career...don’t haunt yourself with the future or what if’s, just go for it ☺️... txs JBROs for your content! I keep telling myself that becoming a lawyer is my only option after I graduate with my BA because people with a BA are famous for how unemployable they are, but it was never something I genuinely wanted to do. Looking back at my college experience there weren't even that many good memories associated with it because I was so focused on getting good grades that I didn't allow myself to have fun or to socialize. thankfully i realized university life isn't all about grades and was able to loosen up and let myself have more fun and explore options outside of law

JBro won't see/read this comment now... but still, doing it for the algorithm. 😃 Actual extended skit?! Woah! Bravo. Bravo. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏽 I loved it! 🤩🤩😍😍🤩🤩 John waiting for a response message from a crush while studying... very relatable!! Jason giving live instant updates on other people's fb relationships status.... that's me right there! 😂😂😂 Also very random: after watching this video, noticing those AP study guide books, I finally threw my copies out. Adios AP/SAT review books, and biology/chem lab manuals!! Thank you JBroWorld for this much needed awesome reflection!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 (I did a good job from refraining myself & questioning all the plotline loopholes in the 2011 ish skit of JBro lives.) 😊

I still have another year in school and currently looking for an internship. It's been such a difficult and uncertain time for me and most of my friends as well. We are all so stress about being able to get an internship opportunity. Lol, we keep telling each other, we'll be able to pass this stressful period. Thank you to Jbro for sharing this and everyone who share their experiences through this video.

This really hit me right in the feels. I suddenly reflected at how torn I was later in college too, going in I had the expectation (and people around me) that I will be a doctor. I was premed too, but then later in college I realized I really liked pursuing graduate studies in line with my psychology degree as well. There were really a lot of internal monologue as well and a period of just being lost, but indeed, it just hits you sometimes! Thankfully, i’m at graduate school right now and although struggling with all the academic pressure and workload, I feel fulfilled and genuinely love what I do. Back then I was labeled as that good student too but I realized I did kinda rob myself of the stage where I should’ve allowed myself to be more “grownup” for my age. I rushed growing up too much. Hence, now I always make time to do the things I love and enjoy too, allowing myself to be happy and not comparing myself to others because after all, everyone has their own journey and timeline. Here’s to life, taking it one day at a time. 🤍

Going back to school 10 years after my undergrad was one of the best decisions I've ever made! Making a career change has been scary but I've never been happier or more confident with what I'm doing now. The only real obstacle was an unsupportive partner, but once he was out of the way it's been smooth sailing.

Hey! Thank you for this video. Your videos relax me. In all honesty I've just started watching your content just today. And I went straight to that subscribe button because I see myself watching more your content in the days to follow. Actually, I'm currently in that phase of comparing myself to others and torturing myself. After watching you'll, I'm relieved and reassured I will make it out in one piece. It felt quite good knowing that. (This kills me when I say this because I find the both of really attractive) Your style of content creation makes me feel like being guided by an elder sibling I've always wanted 🙈! I'm sorry if I creepy. But that's how I really felt. Keep doing your good work. And I will be cheer you through. Ciao.✌

I did not know this when I almost quit being a student in high school, but I realized this when I became an academic researcher at the university: Your decisions about your career do not necessarily determine your final destination, so make your decisions with much deliberation but with little worry. Just decide and just do, then either commit and complete or give up fast and move on faster.

Also, feel this whole video vibe. But on a whole other level. I’m witnessing my son going thru all these decisions. I just hope I can do the best I can to help guide him down the right path. At the end of the day it’s his life and he has to love what he is doing. It’s a fine line I walk with him! Sometimes I feel more like his cheerleader cheering him on and making sure he knows he got this. Next level he want is to be recruited to be pro laxer! He wants his name to be a household name. So I see the hard work and struggles!

I'm a sophomore in community college and switched to 3 different majors (music to theatre[acting], and now graphic design). In my heart, I know that I've always wanted to work in the entertainment industry. (as you can see the order to my previous majors hehe) I was always in love with music and was involved in choir and orchestra throughout my high school life.. Stability for money always gets in my head which is why I struggle to decide for myself. Although time to time, I still think about making music and I don't want to give that up as well. Since starting college till now, I still feel like I'm falling apart because I'm not sure what to decide for myself or how to get to where I want to be. I had watched tons of videos of ppl saying the same things like 'Go out there and explore, you'll eventually find something that you like to do' I've done a whole lot and I just became even more confused lol it's really hard to find inspiration and what's good for me My asian parents had always expected me to do the traditional way and go to med school like all of my other cousins but I decided not to do that since I couldn't see my future in that field. They still guilt trip me till this day about me not majoring in science lol And I thought about changing my major again to radio & television since I'm starting to find an interest in making films. I don't know what will happen next but I hope to be able to find what truly sparks my eyes and heart. Good luck to all of the college students out there! Thanks for sharing your guy's experiences! I really appreciate this!!
