IMPORTANT: In Minecraft Bedrock 1.21, you need to replace some of the buttons with trap doors to prevent spiders from spawning. There should be an alternating pattern of buttons and trap doors. ​@@thomasstowe1521 You likely misaligned the buttons and top trap doors. Every block that doesn't have a button on top of it, must have a trap door on the bottom of the block on top of it. This works because creepers are short enough to spawn under trap doors, while the other mobs aren't. Unfortunately, this will take you some time to fix.

The trapdoors weren’t the thing that took the longest to get for me. 10 min with mega spruce and an efficiency 5 netherite axe was all I needed. The real struggle I had was the 3 shulkers of stone for the building blocks. I don’t have a beacon yet so it took like an hour and a half

I don’t know what I’m doing differently than you. Other than I don’t turn my monitor off. I’ve built JC’s Iron farm, double nether portal gold farm, wool farm, kelp farm, sugar cane zero tick, drowned farm, bonemeal farm, and then the other day, this creeper farm. I had two full double chest of gunpowder in the morning. Could probably add a 3rd double chest. For the other farms I afk at them fairly often. Usually the gold or iron. I’ve never had a problem with any of them… except the bonemeal farm, which is prone to breaking. Gotta keep checking in on it.

Awesome farm I built it in a few hours on bedrock 1.20 over an ocean. It is a painful process but it’s worth it in the end if you follow each step. I recommend having all the materials gathered beforehand as this will speed up the building process, if you have access to shulker boxes these are extremely helpful. I also recommend lighting up the top of the 6th creeper spawn layer before building the roof so that when you go to place your trapdoors on the 6th creeper spawn layer you don’t have to clear mobs and light it up to do so. @@kiwi4141 Just don’t add the trapdoors on the ceiling of each layer, the trapdoors are there because only creepers can spawn under trapdoors so removing them allows skeletons, zombies, and the occasional drowned or witch to spawn

Another way to prevent fall damage is to set up some signs and a layer of water to break their fall before getting to the kill chamber (creepers kept landing and dying on the piston)

CREEPER NOT MOVING FIX: If you replaced buttons for trap doors in 1.21 you may have encountered issue with creepers not moving. The solution I came up with was closing a number of the trap doors. The problem seems to be the "path finding" doesn't trigger. But by have at least one close trap door next to a spawn spot it allows the path finding to trigger, and even with less holes to fall into they start moving and eventually fall into a hole. My farm rates when from 150 gp/hr to 960 gp/hr. The pattern I did is all outer rim trap doors closed, then every other row inside. Means only 40% as many holes to fall into, but the pathfinding starts and ultimately functions way better. Hope this helps someone.

Hey, thank you for the great advice! I followed your info and it mostly fixed the farm. After about an hour the creepers still stop falling though. Unless you reset by flying off and returning. I noticed the creepers eventually spawn in a spot where two trapdoors are open side by side and they won't move. Eventually more creepers stop spawning in. I haven't tried yet, but I wanted to come and suggest a checker board pattern to you and all who may see this. I think that should be the most effective way. I will try and come back to let you know my results.

Thanks for another great farm, @JC_Playz! For anyone wondering, the farm works perfectly as of 24 April 2024. I am getting around 15 stacks of gunpowder per hour with a looting 3 sword. (I did not clear out any caves below me, so this might affect my numbers. Even without doing that, I feel like this is a terrific afk farm.)

For anyone wondering why there are spiders spawning in their farm it’s because buttons don’t prevent spiders from spawning. Instead, use fence posts. Yes they are more expensive but they will make sure spiders do not spawn and clog the farm.

If you have the recourses I highly recommend using the smooth stone blocks he used or anything else with a bold outline. It makes it way easier to count every other block for your buttons/trapdoors. Im halfway through building this with cobblestone and regret not taking the time to get a better block for counting

I used cobble... I always do. It is a nightmare to count every time I use it. I'm just lazy. If you have a silk touch pickaxe, regular stone is a little easier to see. It's not as nice as smooth stone but it's better. I believe there are a few colors of concrete that may work nicely too but I don't remember which color and I can't remember off hand how difficult it is to make 😜

Okay everyone. I know people are now having pathing issues after the trials update. The fix is going to take 21stacks of buttons. Replace all trap doors on the ceilings with buttons. You'll no longer have creepers not falling and you won't get spiders. I recommend doing it in peaceful or creepers will blow the farm up while placing the buttons. I used scaffolding to get up and down. I hope this helps.

Inquiry: I see you are using buttons as an anti-spider measure, but I have noticed a lot of comments over the past year suggesting that buttons don’t work anymore and that fence posts are needed instead. So is there a reason you specifically use buttons? Or can fence posts work just as well? Like can creepers actually spawn on a button block? Cause if they can it would increase the efficiency of the farm over those that use fence posts.

One thing I'm going to say is you might want to add scaffolding to the list of materials for ease of access to the layers in creative, also when putting down the floor level trap doors on each layer, leave them closed until you have both the ceiling and floor layers done for less falling.

Personally I don't think it would be necessary to extend the farm because mobs usually stop spawning past a certain distance and mob limits may also result in efficiency of any new tier dropping off as you add more. If you did then yes extending the roof should be sufficient but I'd maybe consider putting other farms around the creeper farm near the afk spot so you can get more out of your time

@@Rider077_ you'd want farms where you wouldn't have to go far from the gunpowder farm but also wouldn't affect the spawn rate, this is a pretty average exp grinder and gunpowder is quite an obscure thing to need imo so I'd put relatively obscure farms with it too. I'm not sure if passive mobs like cows/sheep/chickens affect spawn rate of creepers but farms of those could be a possible option, things like a pumpkin/melon farm would definitely work. A good but difficult option might also be a flying machine bamboo/sugarcane farm.

@@Rider077_ yes that's probably best, I'd generally recommend grouping a few farms together that don't affect the efficiency of any farms around it, so maybe do a similar thing with your trident farm. Some farms are also best as standalone farms like a gold farm but the majority work with other farms.

1 small tip, you don't need the stair to collect the xp. you can pull xp through glass, so if you want a cleaner look you can just do all glass, you'll still get the xp through it

It costs a lot of materials and time but totally worth it! Tip: use a friend for help :) 10/10 recommend works great!

I do have a question, does buttons don't work anymore where the creepers fall in? does it need to be trap doors like the previous version you posted?

i think you can use trapdoors , not that much of a diffrence , actually i will use trapdoors when i build this today

Dude replacing buttons with trap door s does make a difference. The previous farm form jc playz didn't worked properly, unable to spawn any creepers.

I just tested this in creative where I put creepers on a platform high up where the only way to get around is to walk across a gap. When there were buttons in the gaps, they stood on their blocks and didn't fall through the gaps. As soon as I replaced the buttons with open trapdoors, they started walking across them and falling off the platform. So, if I were you, I would use trapdoors instead of buttons.

When you replace the buttons with trapdoors make sure they are open. Otherwise the creepers will get stuck where they spawned.

Built this in Education Edition, and I got more than just creepers. Me: Alright, time for some gunpowder. Minecraft: *Witch* *Skeleton* *Drowned* good job on the farm, really a necessity for me, someone who doesn't like night-time mob hunting.

You can add more layers but you must increase your simulation disance and be much further from the farm.

Great farm!!!! I did swap all the lower trap doors with coral fans and all the buttons for bamboo fence posts. Still did the trap doors on the ceiling. Can confirm NO SPIDERS! Still testing for rates but so far it's working flawlessly.

dang man thanks for the tutorial- it turns out to be REAL GOOD, I added 1 extra layer thus it now has 7 layers and I didn't put the trapdoors under that wide roof and it is now working as both creeper and other mobs(zombie, skeleton, etc) farm-- worth to build indeed

If you have the time and patience... And the resources, i recommend using a soul sand elevator to get to the top of the collection platform. Otherwise it takes an annoying amount of time climbing up the latter. Also if you want a fast way down, powdered snow with carpet on top will break your fall from any height. One more thing, if you want to afk this farm without using a trident, magnet blocks on top of hopper minecarts work great, you wont get XP but you can afk in front of the collector and get all the gun powder you need.
