What a machine you have there Lord Muck I used to drive a 4cx on a j plate that was a good machine especially in 4 wheel drive pushing into piles but what you have is world's apart from that old girl great stuff.

Coffee maker and heated seat. More like an office than a digger but, spending 8/10/12+ hrs a shift in it, it is a work station/ home. Mr Bamford would be very pleased how his invention has progressed and a world leader in it's field.

Really enjoyed that video, so much I didn't know about the 4cx great stuff, it's a cry shame that there isn't a big demand for the conventional JCB , now we have mini 360 diggers and grab lorries, I see far too many of the 3CX diggers just parked up. Great video all the very best, regards Kevin Fox, Essex.

Holy crap those baby's are nice. Had a mid-80s 3cx sitemaster that was a marginal machine - developed tons of leaks in the valve body - wasn't designed for contractors - was really only suited for farm use for long-term durability (for which any old machine will work). Crap like a hot water maker is just something to break. How much did that cost? Think we bought the Sitemaster extendahoe for $65K including several buckets and a hydraulic breaker. We later added a drill motor for drilling piers and a vibraplate. The hydraulics weren't up to the task and the machine took a beating after only several thousand hours. Perkins engine was strong and had no issues. Dunno if I'd buy another.
@LordMuck5 жыл бұрын
Hot water maker is very simple so not much to break ! Vibrating plates, breakers etc are all hard on any machine. New ones have JCB's own engine and I have to say they are a good unit. JCB are really pushing in the US and Canada so I'd say if you were looking for a new one then try one when you try all the rest.
@markjackson76505 жыл бұрын
Not gonna bash jcb at all, they have been the market leader for back hoes for the last 40 years or so, but in my experience the new holland' s hydraulics are second to none. Last one I drove was running a tar planer on the back actor and the machine hardly knew it was there. Also could shove for days with the front loader.

I have a question in relation to greasing the propshafts, why do you grease the niple for the telescopic splines?. I ask as when I had my fastrac I was told by my local dealer not to use that niple and to remove the prop to grease the splines, reason being that niple is for jacking the universal joint off the propshaft and using that grease point only puts pressure on the diff and gearbox output shafts. Oh all so the splines are Teflon coated so don't require regular greasing.
@LordMuck3 жыл бұрын
As the axles move the prop lengthens and shortens and the splines slide up and down just like on a PTO. This is why you grease the splines. We sometimes extend the shaft and grease all the splines to ensure they get grease evenly. If I had a local dealer that had told me that, I'd change dealers...

Hi Lord she's a bute, I toyed with buying an older 4cx or an american spec before I got my old machine, I was going to use it as digger and loader for barn cleaning with a big grapple fork like my buddy does with his forestry spec Valtra x120 . There is a lot of those 4x4x4 over here aren't worth much for a good reason guys beat the crap out of them, but buying their issues scared me with the 4 wheel steer and other worn out bits !. I guess JCb's repeating history. In 1973 Mum and Dad had the house built I grew up in, the brand new 3c that dug the septic tank had a kettle in it way back then !. Don't cut those other legs up i'd bet in 40 years somebody will be dragging them out the hedge as a rare part if somebody ever restore one L.O.L, Thanks for sharing looking forward to see it working. Take care

They are Kurt, it get's the job done and admit-tingly that 4cx would be far too big for what we need but it sure would be nice to have some of them comforts in it like what yours has especially the seat control joysticks that looks a big improvement over the old rear console/levers . one question tho does the 4cx have a vertical backhoe latch/lock like a 2cx has if so how do you lock it now that the rear console has gone?

There's a pull toggle so bring the arm right up to unlatch or lock.
