In overriding parm and data set.while overriding the dataset we need to use stepname of the proc and then ddname for example STEPP01.DD1 dsn=.

In COND parameter false then it will execute if true will bypass...
@reddyganesh3743 Жыл бұрын
We are not applying COND parameter in the first step of jcl, because COND parameter, check the condition based on previous step results.

For the first question...you told if the load is not there in steplib it ll search in Joblib...have you ever run a jcl for this scenario??? Try it
@iiwowiis53543 жыл бұрын
I have tried it long back. I hope It should work for you as well.

When you need just the first 2 and last 2 records from a file, can we use stopaft and skiprec? But it might need 2 steps to achieve the o/p. Alternatively, we can build in a seq num using the inrec parameter in JCL sort and select the 1st 2 and last 2 records using include or ifthen when statement in outrec build statement. This can be done in a single step.

You are correct. We can use any of the approach. It all depends up on the need and utility the you use in your project. 1. If you are using ICETOOL, you can use FIRST(2) , LAST(2) in TOOL IN control card to extract specific set of records. 2. SORT pgm : SKIP REC & STOPAFT. However, It requires two steps. 3. As you said, we can add sequence number at the end of the record and get the desired result.

These video may be used by many students . If you are making any video, please make sure you put the correct information. In first question only you have provided wrong information. If steplib and joblib both are present the program will ignore joblib and directly search in system library. If it is not even found in system library it will fail with S806. But you said if steplib is not present then ot will be searched in joblib which is incorrect. Please correct it

Can u pls explain in detail the difference between Jcllib and Proc lib.
@iiwowiis53544 жыл бұрын
In JCLLIB, we can define order statement where we can define list of libraries which are separated by comma. the system will search for that particular procedure in the sequence as specified in the order statement. Ex: /ALLLIB JCLLIB ORDER=(Library1,Library2,Library3) PROCLIB is applicable for particular proc step alone not for entire job. //MYPROC DD DSN=LIBRARY1,DISP=SHR // DD DSN=LIBRARY2,DISP=SHR

At time 26:54 ..the answer for step4 is wrong ... GDG1(-2) will be GDG1.G00003V00 not GDGD1.G00001V00 Because in step3 one more GDG version already created .. that was GDG1.G00005V00
@iiwowiis53544 жыл бұрын
The GDG version created in step3 will be treated as GDG1(+1) within a same job(in further steps). So, Step4 refers the GDG1(-2) as GDGD1.G00001V00
