It took over a year for the FAA to fine SpaceX $633,009 for something they did or didn't do in 2023. According to reports, SpaceX will be filling a lawsuit against the FAA. Elon Musk told Newsom to take a long walk off of a short bridge and moved X and SpaceX to Texas. Could he do the same for the FAA and once again move but this time maybe to an island in international waters? Q: What should be done with the FAA and AST? Everyone keeps focusing on the FAA, but technically, the FAA shouldn't even be regulating Starship. The normal procedure, even according to the FAA, is to have NASA regulate space prototypes until they are approved for commercial use. Then the FAA is lead. That's why NASA is regulating Starliner right now instead of the FAA. Why the inconsistency just for Starship?

Take it a step further, what about the two astronauts that are stranded up on the ISS ? They have to wait another six months for someone to go get them. How hard would it be to just send Falcon 9.5 and pick them up and bring them home? There is an opening docking port where Starliner star just left. There was talk at the time about having a Falcon X ship on a launch pad prepped and ready to launch, in the event of a catastrophic occurrence in space. Somehow, it got dropped because they wanted to do all of these tests to try and find the problem. In the process they were using excess resources on the ISS. Food, oxygen, extra waste ……. And now Starliner is home and the 2 unscheduled astronauts have to wait another 6 months to come home. Now, what’s the price tag for the 9 months or so when, if I recall correctly, Musk quoted a number a little less than $300,000 to launch a rescue ship to pick up 2 astronauts…. How long will it take the FAA to approve that launch?

He needs to. The U.S. gobernment is to restrictive toward anything ELon, especially with dems in charge.

Maybe he should move and not have restrictions on innovation

I have a different meaning for the FAA, but KZbin will not allow me to publish it here. Their arrogance in delaying SpaceX operations over what many consider trivial matters is appalling, wasteful and delaying which is only pushing us further behind other countries that are in the same business that SpaceX is in. It would serve us right if Elon Musk moved his entire operations to another country that is not as restrictive or political as this country is becoming.

If SpaceX is delayed/stopped our species could perish before it gets off earth. ITS A POSSIBILITY! Compare that to the upside of govt. control, taxation, regulation. THINK!

No and it's a logistcsl nightmare having to bring everything in from outside plus the people and support. Its too expensive.

Delaying spaceX to assist ULA and NASA, their pets have fallen behind and they just can’t stand it 🤪

Speaking of moving to an island, I am retired, live in the Philippines and have seen several videos on KZbin stating he is buying property over here and might be moving his Space operations here. Might just be click bait, I don't know. I am a retired Space industry employee (Space Shuttle) and would very much like to see that and be involved in some small way. I miss my job.

Can`t believe you picked our island as your Thumbnail !🤣 SpaceX, welcome to Tahiti-Moo`rea :)

@sentenced2sail check out Frederick Pohl's Sci-fi book, "Annals of the Heechee" (1987). It is the 4th book in the Gateway series. Your island plays a major part in about 1/4 of the book. I'm 62 years old, but unfortunately, this book is as close as I am ever going to get to your island. I've traveled extensively in North America and Central America. Vacationed in Germany and Italy, deployed to Saudi Arabia for a year. Landed on the isle of Crete and Shannon Ireland but was restricted to the plane. Unfortunately, we can no longer take those globe spanning flights. This leaves the Pacific Islands, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, South America, Hawaii, and Antarctica unfulfilled on my bucket list. Well, enough rambling for this old man. Know that I will always wish to visit your Island and count myself as unfortunate that I failed to experience your culture. May you live as long as you love and love as long as you live.

I'm glad you're not just using Elon's name as click bait. I appreciate you actually put in the time to discuss and explain. Unlike so many trolls out there using Elon's name and not even show their faces.

I wonder how many years and how many robots it will take to develop a rocket factory on the Moon. Seems like a ridiculous idea today. Maybe not so foolish a decade from now.
@JasmineSinclair-i3nАй бұрын
The launch licensing requirement shouldn't even exist. These rockets are aircraft, like a Boeing 747 is an aircraft. A license isn't required for each flight of a 747. Would we be in danger if there was no launch license requirement? No, because a company has a lot to lose if people, property, and the environment is harmed. It is called lawsuits, and it can run into the billions. So they will behave. Like with a Boeing 747, if there is a crash or threatening malfunction, the FAA investigates, and if they believe another launch before the investigation completes threatens people, property, or the environment, they can ground the rocket/aircraft until resolved. In my opinion, a launch license requirement is unnecessary. They can't anticipate what's going to happen anyway. Go by what you know, not by what might be. If property, people, and the environment is not harmed, LEAVE THEM ALONE. My guess was the launch license was political in the first place to limit competition by startups, for the sake of their darling Boeing. Costly regulations benefit large established companies.

Like I said before, "If it was up to the FAA the Voyager probes would of never made their launch windows for the Grand Tour!" That is window for free trajectory and gravitational boost only occurs at an interval on 175 years. Actually if it had been up to NASA, Voyager 1 & 2 would of been sacrificed as pathfinder for the Pioneer probes. Fortunately JPL had enough political pull to make the Grand Tour happen with the probes they built.

Of course he could move to an island. Better yet, he could build his own personal island and then move X, Starlink, and SpaceX into their new digs. He could call it "The Island of High Xpectations". Think of it as his $10 Billion Space Yacht ... first the seas, then the stars.

That was the plan in the '70s on an atoll in the Pacific. It was attacked by the US Empire. Tyranny is worldwide.

Congress in this next term and hopefully administration should cut FAA out of the loop on space business. Create an administrative body only for space resources overseen by the Space force.

If Space X continues to improve in this speed they will never be able to launch… 😂 the FAA is pitting America into a dark place.
