I was shocked!! After 23 months of testing SpaceX Starlink, today, I recorded the fastest speed ever! This speed exceeded the testing done during BETA when there were less than 100,000 subscribers using the network.Today there are over 2 million!
In this video, we look at the jaw-dropping speed increase.
Q: Have you seen a speed increase, decrease, or stay the same?

I live in Anchorage, Alaska. My house is surrounded by trees. I put the dish on my roof, which is flat. Initially, it was about 3' off the roof, 18' off the ground, and didn't clear the obstructions . I was getting frequent interruptions. I raised the dish another 10", clearing the obstructions. However, I found out through customer service that the service needed to clear the horizon. Starlink saw my set up and gave me a couple of months free of charge, with consideration for my location. I'd need to build my tower about 22K feet tall to clear the horizon. I could clear the trees but not the horizon. Starlink was very understanding and accommodating. Thanks to J. Christina, for the information he provided on how to optimize Starlinks customer service. Also, the recent deployment of satellites has improved my service significantly.

There are some websites that track the positions of Starlink satellites and gives their unique ids. Using that you could probably guess which one you’re connected to. Might be worth making a note of that when you do a speed test, you might notice a pattern.

I have recently purchased the Starlink for the home I am at. I done the speed test 50 times today 12/6/23 over a 12-hour period (10AM - 10PM). Download avg. 81.7, Upload avg. 4.5, Latency avg. 41.5. The highest download was 246.7 and the lowest was 9.9. The highest upload was 11.5 and the lowest was 1.32. The highest latency was 252 and the lowest was 20. I live in Kentucky on the western side. The closest speed test servers were over 300+ miles from me (Chicago). I am not complaining about these speeds or latency due to the only internet at my location available is either Hughesnet or AT&T DSL, the latter is what we had, and the download was at best 1 download and .67 upload. AT&T is terrible as they do not care to fix any issues with their lines. Every time it rains, I was without internet or land phone line.

Central Indiana, 10 Tests at 1pm ET P/D/U Highest values 41/243/25.2 (not from same test) Lowest Values 54/99/8.7 Average 47/164/15.5 I've seen values as high as 320 down and 40 up. But, I've also seen much lower values. The thing for us is that it is fast enough and rarely loses signal. We are in an area that barely gets cell coverage.

I am in Northeast Arizona and has had starlink for a little over 2 years was one of the original beta users. All the other options in this area really are not options for any serious use if there's a power outage which is common out here you have no service even when the service is working the other options give you at best about five megabits up and less than one down. The thing was starlink it has worked regardless of the weather be it snow rain wind you name it it just works. Now you get on topic. In about the last 2 weeks the speeds have increased tremendously after watching your video yesterday Wednesday October 25 start logging my speed test. Last night during prime time 2000 to 22:00 The average upload speed was around 180 which is about 100% better than it was just a week ago. Just to see if there was any improvement after midnight I checked at about 0100 today and the speeds averaged about 235. The shocker was this morning at 10:35 I broke the 300 mark recorded speeds averaging about 330 down and around 15 up. Starlink just keeps getting better and better for this area it's really the only choice if you need dependable reliable service at high speed.😊

Thanks for the videos dude. I really appreciate them. I wonder if it's related. I have some obstructions to the north that have always been a minor inconvenience. Losing signal for like 8 seconds every so many minutes. Never really bothered me as I mostly use starlink for backup. Well recently the obstructions don't even show up. I'll have to go look at my dish later and see which way it's pointing now.

Well as a brand new user in past week here in Central Wisc;, I've gotten a wide range of speeds depending upon time of day. Anywhere from as low as 10mbps up to 240mbps with a very consistent 15 to 17mbps upload speeds. The ms ping times range from 36 to 116ms. Overall on average I'm seeing 80mbps which is considerably faster and more reliable than my fastest Country Wifi provider which would be only 25mbps by 2mbps for $75/month. Overall I'm super happy with starlink and excited that it may eventually rival Fiber speeds. Now I've seen new fiber getting buried fresh all over the country side where I live and I inquired with 2 major ISP's and they have no clue who's fiber that is but I wasn't about to wait and jumped on the starlink bandwagon. As and IT guy, I need speed! This package is fool proof. I took it out of the box and was online in under 15mins and put my starlink router in bypass mode to continue using my Velop mesh 5 node setup. Keep the videos coming. I'm getting up to speed fast watching your videos on Starlink.

Ok an update on my post from yesterday about slow speed. We’ve had Starlink for a year and a half. Speeds have slowly creeped up to between 60 and 150 down. Last couple of weeks it dropped to 12-20ish. I sent a ticket in this morning explaining what has happened and no changes here and got a response a few minutes ago. They said something is wrong with the router and cable and they are sending a cable and router.

My speeds during the day have been much better than at night. Pretty consistently 200 down and 20 up on average. At night the download drops to about 100 and upload is around 15, again on average. Still really good as far as i am concerned. I find that speeds have gotten faster and more consistent as the constellation grows. Latency also has been dropping and more consistent as well. Yes, there are off times and the occasional service drop. However, considering how far the signal has to travel it's not bad at all. I love my Mr. Bevel! Oh, yeah. Upper North Eastern Wisconsin.

Very impressive for satellite internet, especially comparing it to the others out there like Hughesnet or Viasat. It is even faster than people I know in the city that have a typical cable or DSL internet connection. It obviously can't compete with fiber internet (For comparison I just did a speed test and averaged 790 down, 760 up, and 12ms ping) but very impressive for satellite. I hope Starlink either keeps up improving the network or limits new customers in order to keep those speeds high.

If everyone is doing continuous speed tests that would slow down the system :) Most ISP's like to maintain a upload speed at least 1/10 of download speed (unless you are on direct fiber). One would think: out in the middle of nowhere you would have the least congestion, but that could also depend on the ground level back-bone.

A question if I may Joe. I installed my Starlink here in North West France a couple of months ago and am absolutely delighted with the results. A neighbour has shown an interest in also installing the system (he currently uses a local community system which is antena based) which is bordering on the useless. My question, he has no mobile phone signal where he lives so I cannot work out how he would, with the help of the Starlink app, set up a Starlink system. Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.

As long as he mounts it in the same direction as your. Pointing North I believe, it should automatically pickup signal once it is installed and plugged in. The APP will be able to talk to it. He might need to download the APP while he is at a location that has WiFi or cell coverage first.

Well. I don't have experience with Starlink, but I'm reasonably sure that top download speeds are more about available bandwidth, so connected to a newer satellite it makes sense that you'd see the higher. Traffic of course impacts how much of that bandwidth you will see. And of course, atmospheric conditions can cut into download speeds. However. upload speeds are most likely effected by atmospheric conditions. I'm willing to be that if you tracked weather conditions compared to upload speeds, this would become obvious over time. Humidity, dewpoint, cloud cover and cloud ceiling are the key elements that can attenuate your upload signal. It will be worse on upload than download because of power levels and signal beam dissipation. This is something that is obvious on wireless ISPs, It's really much the same process getting back and forth to a towers as it is getting back and forth between ground and the satellite. Think your PoP can play a role too, but I'd bet on atmospheric conditions as being the biggest factor on uploads. The NWS does track these conditions, so you can go back and compare your best and worst upload speeds compare to conditions at the time.
