I am too fucking good at solving these bro. See Jc this is why you always have to be delusional in these types of mysteries. The person you least expect is always the perpetrator, and what give it away is when ballen said about this man loving nature, also the fact it said that it was not Shawn's and Scott's camp site but someone else's camp site and the only person I could think of is Ricky.

You’d be blown away at the number of folks who try to hike that trail each year nowadays. It got much more popular after that book came out twenty years ago. My buddy hiked it after high school and got Lyme disease in PA and had to bail but he’s good now. Don’t let this discourage you from going on a hike or camp somewhere
