I have driven more 4020's in my life than any other tractor. My favourite memory was when i was in tenth grade a farmer needed a driver to run one of his two 4020's for field work. I was in heaven. One tractor pulled 5-16 and the other a 6-16 plow. From sun up to sun down. Great memories from a great tractor.

Seriously??? Maybe two inches deep like this guy.. Get an Allis 190xt it’ll plow ten inches deep in road gear

My very first tractor was a 71 model 4020 that I bought in September of 1977. I was 17 years old and started with 100 acres. 50 in corn and 50 in double cropped wheat and soybeans. That thing would pull 4 18 inch bottoms in 5th gear and never break a sweat.

Just discovered this video and WOW, does it bring back wonderful memories from childhood. My dad had a 4010 and and a 4020 and both were hardworking tractors. Yours looks like it just drove off the showroom floor and only someone who grew up with JD's could truly appreciate how beautiful it truly is.

Great job of plowing, your plow is set perfectly . Colters set perfectly, furrow edges are square and crisp, no dirt on spilling from the bottoms to the top of the ground. Just a pleasure to see the job done properly. You are plowing at the perfect depth, all around a super job!

I never realized that how old my dad's tractor was. When we moved to a new farm it was already there, not new. 20 years later he was still driving it every day at work. He changed the oil 3 times more than needed to be changed....at the weekends, on his own time. He wouldn't let it sit overnight, dirty.

@cementer7665 Жыл бұрын
And that is how it was done (although I thought he was in 4th) and the video was also excellent, NO stupid music to cover up the sound of the tractor, NO stupid commentary, NO clouds of black smoke, NOTHING but the tractor and plow doing as they were made to do.
@markhaas92654 жыл бұрын
Covered a lot of ground with the same set up - we had duals on out of furrow side. Great video - lots of memories from making that dirt fly. There is nothing quiet like that smell of freshly plowed ground mixing with diesel exhaust. Thank You!

My most favorite tractor, I think one of the most universal tractors ever built. Back in the day when we farmed I loved plowing with a 4020

I’m jealous!! Takes me back. Loved plowing with our 4020. Equipped with m&ws and big turbo and straight pipe. Only downfall was a hiniker cab and after a day you heard it all night!

I remember the first night my father in law let me plow. He had laid off the lands in the daylight so everything was ready. He showed me how to close the furrows and then turned me loose. The lights on the 4020 weren’t the best and I remember losing track of which end of the field I was at. With no til it’s a lost art.

I was 12 when a 4020 like this one with that plow pulled onto our farm, What a machine that thing was. I never drove it until 2 years later and I was in heaven!

Fine job and nice toys. Our neighbor pulled 4 bottoms with his 4020. You can go a little deeper and a little more speed will help roll the sod better and help you through wet spots. We had a cheap 1130 Massey Ferguson because we couldn't afford John Deere. It did have power. It pulled 5/16's too easy. It must have been turned up pretty good as it could pull in hi 1st and throw the sod too far if you let it. Good times.
@danw60143 жыл бұрын
Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the 1130 was a 130 hp tractor. The 4020 was rated at a 95 hp.
@arvbergstedt3303 Жыл бұрын
1130 MF perkins turbo had 120 hp. They were powerful good long lasting tractors also with closed center hydraulics similar to JD. Better tractor than most people knew. Just did not have the vast dealer network and resources like Deere.
@cdjhyoung10 ай бұрын
@@arvbergstedt3303 I came upon an 1130 MF one day stranded in the road. It had come out of a field too quickly and when in bounced crossing the road side ditch it cracked the tractor in two right at the flywheel. Bad day for that farmer.
