He didn't even weave the _right_ signs. The signs for Edo Tensei no Jutsu: Kai are Ne, Ushi, Saru, Tora, Tatsu, I. He wove the signs for Ninpo: Kuchiyose no Jutsu; I, Inu, Tori, Saru, Hitsuji. He even slapped the ground at the end. So you see, he didn't cast Edo Tensei no Jutsu: Kai, he's just Madara fucking Uchiha.

@@Mope333 Rescinding the contract is the summoning equivalent of releasing a jutsu. In more general language that can even be taken to the real world, rescinding a contract is a voiding of terms. It takes more than one person to make a deal, after all. The contract seal Minato used on Obito during the flashback to the day of Naruto's birth for example, was a forced rescinding of his contract with Kurama that was made with the Sharingan. Madara casts Edo Tensei no Jutsu: Kai. He says the technique name and everything, which means he's meant to be doing exactly what Kabuto was made to do. He was just made to weave the wrong signs, so I've taken to joking about it. But just because it's a joke doesn't mean I'm wrong. What I'm doing is joking about an animation error. Don't be coming after me with shit like this when you don't understand what's going on.

So I'm sure you know this by now since this is pre recorded but... madara recinded the contract of the reanimation, so he is still a reanimation, but he is no longer tied to the caster... like itachi did by overwriting the contract with the genjutsu that was pre-set to make someone want to protect the leaf village of the bird saw itachi's mangekyo, assuming that that would only happen if sasuke tried to use itachi's implanted mangekyo against naruto. This is kinda like madara contracted himself to do what he himself wanted to do, instead of what kabuto wanted him to do. And madara knew about reanimation jutsu because the second hokage invented it, and he knew him personally.

it's not like itachi did.. what itachi did was overwrite the tag that kabuto places in each edo tensei so he can control them, that tag or having control over the individual has nothing to do with edo tensei. edo tensei is just reviving a person in an immortal body with infinite chakra, you don't have control over that person as the caster. what madara did was undo his ties to the caster so the caster can't undo his edo tensei. if what itachi did was the same, itachi would still be here.

In theory they could be reanimated but whoever did it would need to do the whole capturing of their DNA and sacrificing of shinobi. Putting them going back into the coffin is Kabuto’s way of storing them for later use. Think starting a “meal from scratch” versus a “pre-cooked meal”. Putting them into coffins is the “pre-cooked meal”. That way they are able to be brought forth much easier.

Reanimations do NOT have unlimited chakra. What really happens is when they run out of chakra, the Refill Rate is higher than normal. The amount of chakra they can hold at any given time is equal or less than when they were alive. Because of this they cant just spam their attacks.

Well the kotoamatsukami crow was established pretty early on and Madara knew tobirama who was the creator of edo tensei. No other shinobi who has been revived up to this point knew about it so i don't think that this is the biggest asspull

It just, the rules are pretty established for many episodes and the author suddenly broke this in just a single episode with an activity coming out of nowhere. i think the reanimated dead being able to rescind the contract on their end is a nice counter balance to such an imba jutsu. everything has a cost, and that is the cost of reviving the dead. tobirama created the jutsu, and i think only a few people only know about the loophole. we dont know if he and madara are still friends that time the jutsu was created.

Exactly what I think, Madara is hella strong and all, but what he did here is just straight bullsh*t. I would have accepted it if there were some special conditions or something, but literally anyone could get free of edo tensei just by knowing the hand signs. I think Kishimoto couldnt think of a logical way to keep him alive and just pulled this out.

You assume the 2nd Hokage developed the reanmation jutsu after he became the Hokage and not before becauseit'sconsideredan S-rank jutsu. Naruto created the wind style Rasenshuriken that's an S-rank also and he is still considered a genin. Sasuke Kirin attack the lightning dragon that he used during his fight with Itachi is also S-ranked; so is Tsunade's hundred healing seal.

I always just assumed that Tobirama used it against the Uchiha's in the past and that Madara figured the jutsu out during battle with his sharingan or that one of the demands when brokering the peace and creating the village was giving up secrets. I didn't even realise that this many people thought it was an asspull until reading this comment section as it made perfect sense to me how Madara would know about the jutsu when i first watched this episode many years ago.

I can't really answer your comment without heading into spoiler territory. So i will just say this, a reanimation can not become a jinchuriki. Madara wants someone to use Rinne Rebirth on him. I personally don't think we need to have every single small detail explained to us, to me it made sense that Madara would know how to use the reanimation jutsu and how to counter it since he is from the same era as the one who invented it... and Madara was both close enemies and close allies at different points in time with the creator.

My theory about why his skin changed it has to do that someone that is in control of a Caster and not exactly at full power will have cracks on the body, but if you reanimate someone at full power without any strings attach like Madara is at this point, the skin would look perfect, but he is still a reanimation, with infinite chakra and inmortal body because as any other reanimation his body can just restore itself if he receives damage. We he said Release on himself it means he release himself from the original edo tensei that Kabuto did and then he just applied the edo tensei to himself because he knew the signs. Edit: They will explain later how Madara knew about the edo tensei but the signs that Kabuto used for the edo tensei he learned them because of the connection he had with Kabuto on the first place, because as I understand the signs for the Edo Tensei works as a password, because if the edo tensei was done always with the same signs they wouldn’t had the issue they had trying to find Kabuto and stop the Reanimations. So basically Kabuto gave Madara the signs or Madara is so OP that even without Kabuto knowledge he used the link of the edo tensei to know the Signs, the same Link that Nagato used for Itachi to track him on the first place and Remember Madara has the Rinnegan as well so it makes sense he managed to use the link for that.

@JDanime you are assuming that the second hokage developed the jutsu after Madara left the village but the exact time he did that was never said i believe. It's just as likely that he created it earlier to fight against the Uchiha's and if it was used in battle against them it's not that far-fetched that one of the demands when brokering the peace between the clans and creating the village was giving up secrets. That or Madara just figured the jutsu out using his sharingan watching it being performed against him.

It makes sense that Tobirama would have invented and used it during the Great Clan Wars. They were sending out academy age students to fight in a war after all! Inventing a jutsu such as the reanimation would help keep their numbers from dwindling drastically in battel and they wouldn't need to send out children anymore.

Reanimation Jutsu can get confusing but all Madara meant is that as long as you know the signs to weave for the reanimation jutsu you are in control not the original caster so if you wanted to break it and go back to being dead you can in Madara’s case he broke the connection to Kabuto so he could stay reanimated and be in control of himself again so he can’t be killed the only way to stop him would be to seal him away but he is still not alive I believe the reason his skin changed was because Kabuto for all his boasting still hadn’t perfected the jutsu however Madara knows everything about it as he was around when it was invented

You need to know how to do the reanimation jutsu to begin with. We only know for sure that Tobirama, Madara, Orochimaru and Kabuto can even use the jutsu. It's probably safe to assume that the first and third hokage can also do it but that's about it. That's only a small group of people with strong correlations to each other so i don't think it's that much of an asspull that Madara knows about the jutsu. They probably shared a lot of secret jutsus between each other when brokering the peace and creating the village.
