Twelve-year-old Hiba has been battling a genetic condition that has caused kidney problems since she was very young.
When her kidneys eventually failed, she began dialysis and endured nearly a year of treatment, knowing that a kidney transplant would be the only long-term solution.
After searching for a donor match, her parents were found to be incompatible, but in an incredible stroke of luck, her sister was tested and proved to be a 100% match-an extraordinarily rare occurrence.
In September, Hiba underwent a living donor kidney transplant, and since then, both she and her sister have been thriving. Their recovery has been supported by the unwavering love of their family and the exceptional care from the team at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, making this challenging journey an inspiring and successful one.
