i like that they did something more unique with the top of the card, i feel like a lot of manufacturers put most of their design efforts into the fan shroud elements on the intake side, and in the majority of builds where you aren't using an pcie extender, you don't even see any of it. i wish more companies would take this kind of an approach and put some cool top plates on it with some design elements. i also like that they left a fair amount of the heatsink exposed, looks cool. not a huge fan of yellow, but imagine if they replaced those yellow strips with RGB strips, that would be sick

I got one of these at launch as it was the only non-reference 5700XT that wasn't sold out. I don't care at all how it looks, but apparently the hive mind thinks it's ugly so that allowed me to buy it. I've found it to be shockingly loud, with some kind of weird rattle around 70% fan speed that I can literally feel making my desk hum. But whatever, it doesn't melt, so that's my requirement met.

I got this card in a pre built. The junction temp scares me on any graphically intensive game. Easily over 100c, even with high fan rpm.

@@giannissp.785 I do still have it, but it is no longer in use. In the years I used it, I ended up repasting the die. Temps were much better. Performance wise it was a great card. A 1080p beast. It still ran hot, but it was acceptable.

Bought mine last week and the shroud IS rattling, unlucky me. The junction temp spikes to 95C often, the core is at ~75C. Can you check on yours and update?

Mine makes the same rattling noise. Try undervolting it in Wattman to reduce temps

@@Dokken2x Thanks for your suggestion. The rattling came from the fan shroud (its thin and flimsy). I have since stuck a small piece of folded cardboard between the card's shroud and the next PCIe slot and the card is quiet. Did undervolt too to bring the junction temp from ~95C to ~85C now.

Looks like the non XT version has the exact same heatsink, it might be able to run it a bit cooler since the non xt uses a bit less power.

Hello friend, I'm from Brazil, here where I live temperatures can vary between 20 to 35 degrees ambient, I have knowledge about undervolt and increased fan speed by AMD drivers, at the beginning of the year I had a Sapphire rx5700xt pulse but I sold it ( including reasons for lack of confidence in the drivers). Today I have a gtx 1070 gaming X from Msi, the best possible noise and temperatures, but I have it for 4 years and I worry about the devaluation and problems with the time of use. This week I got that same model - Challenger D- on sale for $ 300.00, which in Brazil is a price well below what is being charged. That said, do you recommend this upgrade? Can I keep it quiet, not be disappointed with the current drivers and gain some performance? Sorry for the long text and I hope you can help me with this question. thankful

This heatsink is thin relative to it's heat output. It's cooling capacity is insufficient resulting in it getting too hot which is a common complaint with this card.

i would just undervolt it a tiny bit, that would do the job, you not gonna feel the difference in 130 vs 128 fps anyways, if the undervolt is gonna lose you performance at all that is.

That's because of super low temps. All you have to do is slow the fan curve so it stays around 70C not 50C
